New Too Much Music podcast episode is out today! In this episode, @composergreg and I talk about finding your own voice and frankly get a little down on consumerism.
All the pertinent "wherever you listen to your podcasts" links here: https://www.toomuchmusicpodcast.com/1933673/follow

And here's the "making of" video.
A step-by-step overview of the processes, decision making and behind the scenes work that goes into finishing a tune.
New tune HEXAPOD up now - with a video of the live mixdown.
First take, best take, as always.
Some wonky moments, which I'm pleased with.

MMultiAnalyzer is dope (and on sale) and works really well with Bitwig.
How do music people just HEAR a chord and instantly know ... which chord it is? Like all the exact notes that make it up?
Me: Noob: *tries to recreate / figure out a sound with only single notes and is totally lost bc it's actually a chord being played*
Skill and practice sure but I'd be curious to hear some tips/tricks if there are any.
What questions about reverb do people want answered? I'm planning to make this into a series all about reverbs, and there's a lot of ways I could take it.

I'm already starting on the next one, which is about rings of allpass filters and nested allpass filters, which are pretty flexible and get some nice sounds.
I just finished producing another #cyberpunk soundtrack in the #ardour #daw which I might use in my upcoming #opensource game (Ghostrunner inspired). Everything was made only on #Linux and with the help of open-source tools (LSP Plugins and Vitalium). I think it turned out pretty nice, but I'd be happy to receive some feedback anyways. There might still be something to improve.

Hey Music Mastodon hope you’re doing well. I’ve returned to my study of Robert Plant’s Big Log as I make my way through recording a backing track. Here’s my chart for play through. #guitar #MusicProduction
I just backed Analog Drum Synthesizer With MIDI and Individual Outputs on @Kickstarter https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/amiteque/analog-drum-synthesizer-with-midi-and-individual-outputs?ref=android_thanks_share
Hey. It makes music. And it's Canadian.
Today I'm discussing how algorithmic reverbs work using the popular “Freeverb.” I give details on feedforward/feedback delays and allpass filters, and I include a Max/MSP patch to play with.
Hope it's helpful/interesting to someone!
Just came across this streamer and I'm absolutely loving his vibe
His whole thing seems to be live looping beats while strolling around NYC
Really talented dude and very watchable, feel like I'm going to have this on in the background all day now
Hey #MusicProduction types (and video too), what are y'all using for backup? I've been with iDrive for a while and... I kinda hate it. The interface is an absolute clunker, it's slow as hell, and feels impossible to deal with in many cases. How do you handle off-site backup of terabytes and terabytes of data?
Anyone on fedi knows of a good, cheap audio interface that works well on linux with reasonable latency for live recording, and lots of inputs?
I’m eyeing the UMC1820 but I wonder if I missed any options. Old second hand stuff is fine too if it fits the bill!

At the end of WWII, the Soviet Union shifted its censorship into high gear in order to minimize the corrupting influence of the West. The punishment for disseminating banned materials could be imprisonment in a gulag, or even death. But that didn’t stop the enterprising, innovative people of the former USSR. @TheConversationUS explains “bone music,” where recordings of Ella Fitzgerald and Elvis were etched into used X-ray film. “The music … suggested that a different sort of life is possible, beyond the strictures of Communist officials. How could a political system that prohibited beautiful music, many asked, possibly merit the allegiance of its citizens?”
Is there anything out there like Soundcloud, but not shit?
Oh and that I don’t have to host myself because I’m tired of that too.
Peel me a grape! Buy me the moon!
My goodness, I am back in Reason remastering old tracks. OMFG it is no Bitwig Studio, but it’s the DAW that I started in back in the day.
Yeah there’s a ‘Best of Synaptyx [Remastered 2025]’ coming, but it’ll be a while. I’m just figuring out the best way to do it. I’m thinking get the stems out of Reason and master in Bitwig, but it’s kind of fun exercising the old Reason muscle memories, idk, we’ll see how it shakes out.
Any of you guys/girls #musicproducer working on #reaper?
What is the feature of Reaper, that is not so obvious, but super helpful in your workflow?
I love working in Reaper and I've just been wondering how much I still don't know about it Looking forward to hearing about your experiences!
For me it's the way the comping works with multiple lanes and how flexible it is to create multiple comps on the same track, both audio and midi, something I didn't see in any other DAW I've worked in.

Hey fam, so I got finished adding my music to Mirlo, so everything is now on both Bandcamp and Mirlo. I much prefer Mirlo’s upload model that let me dump whole albums into the uploader at once instead of track at a time or pay to batch upload like Bandcamp has. Obviously I have a following on Bandcamp and absolutely zero on Mirlo, but I’ll continue to upload to both and you can choose where you go to stream/buy. Thanks for your support and patience!
