roboticus lastius (not a bot)<p>I'm old enough to remember <a href="https://writing.exchange/tags/NAFTA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>NAFTA</span></a> being born. <br>So many folks in Canada were worried the US would get the lion share of manufacturing, and Canadian businesses - with longer distances, etc would be hobbled or wither. Conservatives crowed how all boats would rise when we were all great partners.<br>Maybe true while the great partner part was true.<br>But those cons set us up for today's situation where key industries are dominated by the US, and Canada relies them at our peril- as the NAFTA plan intended</p>

Manufactured hardship for Canadians on soaring prices so they support a more Trump-aligned leadership in elections this year. Americans are just being dragged along for the ride. Over and over, pretty much every administration since the agreements were signed have implemented protectionist tariffs in violation of the agreements.</p><p>Over and over and over, the dispute resolution mechanisms clear Canada of wrongdoing, and order the USA to stop the tariff.
