The #Forgejo monthly report was published
Forgejo v12.0 branch was cut on 25 June, for a planned release on 17 July. Forgejo v11.0.2 was released on 18 June, addressing several bugs. Forgejo Runner v6.4.0 introduced offline caching support.
The minimum required Git version has been bumped and the search has been improved.
There is strong enthusiasm for translating Forgejo.
User following with #ActivityPub has progressed and a new #NLnet grant has been accepted.

Many thanks to @NGIZero for funding, @agx for involving me and tons of review and @snwh for UI design!
As I don't think that I'll have time to make a video this week, here are some screenshots of the implementation. This is test, the fields and algorithm to calculate the score will improve with time and feedback.
I wanted to do that for years, and it's now done and specified thanks to @nlnet and @NGIZero .
Specification (to be improved with time) is at https://xmpp.org/extensions/inbox/data_policy.html .
This is very important informations that can now be checked at a glance.
Interoperability of Events in the Fediverse
Hooray! It is now official: We have been granted funding by NLnet to support the realisation the vision we outlined in our last post.
Events are at the heart of social life and deserve to be treated accordingly in the Fediverse. […]
In addition, we will also investigate the Fediverse Auxiliary Service Provider Specifications (FASPs) for discoverability and filtering of public events.
@nlnet will fund @Mastodon
for institutions
Features for institutional instances of #Mastodon
"This proposal aims to enhance its suitability for institutional use deploying their own server by introducing features such as customizable branding and landing pages, stronger security options like enforced 2FA and WebAuthn, the ability to embed timelines on external websites, and email-based post subscriptions for broader public reach."
Development for Mastodon compatible #ActivityPub polls in #WordPress is starting. This project is receiving funding from the latest round of the NGI Zero Commons Fund. #ngi0 #NLnet
I've just published a protoXEP to expose a lot of information on data policy, as part of my current @nlnet grant. The plan is to have services (XMPP server, gateways, etc) expose to clients how long they keep data, if they encrypt, how they handle authentication, who can access data, what is backup frequency, where data are located, etc.
This is very precious information when you use a service.
I now want to expose in a easy way this to end-users.
We are celebrating 10 years of #reproducible builds in #FDroid this year, and we are overhauling the way the build server works.
Thanks to the funding from #NLnet, #NGI #NGI0 part of #HorizonEurope, and your donations, our work is intended to power the future of #FDroid for the next ten and more.
Dig deeper for the why and the how in this 15 mins post: https://f-droid.org/2025/05/21/making-reproducible-builds-visible.html

Good and bad #bootstrapping and #lisp news.
Timothy Sample has been exploring to write a #bootstrappable syntax-case implementation (the first?) and using GNU Mes to prototype that, sponsored by @nlnet .
Sadly, it didn't perform and #NLnet apparently didn't choose to extend his grant. (Boo!)
Anyway, Timothy is now writing another bootstrappable lisp implementation: Germ. It's still pretty early days but it's looking great. So happy with this!
Good news everyone, Movim 0.30 codename Encke is finally there!
This release is actually way bigger than you might think! Movim is bringing group-call to all your devices and still rely 100% on the XMPP standard (it is even compatible with @dino ).
In this new version you'll also find a lot of improvements in the UI, a better integration of the Stories and a new way to personalize how Movim looks .
Thanks to @nlnet and for their support .
Share the good new around and invite your friends to join Movim !

We need a free/libre fork of #Android for the public commons. Google cannot be trusted.
Maybe that could be #lineageos or #Graphene, but given that they build on top of Android rather than driving the core development, I'm not certain they would be enough as it stands.

ActivityPub / Fedi server nitty gritty
Here is a new blog post containing a short overview of what happened around MPTCP over the past year! Still more work to do, but clearly a nice impact!
NodeBB will be making an appearance at this year's FOSDEM!
I'll like be present at the Social Web dev room during FOSDEM itself, and will be presenting a talk at the Social Web After Hours event alongside @darius@friend.camp, @pfefferle@mastodon.social, and @j12t@j12t.social at Hackerspace Brussels (HSBXL), on Sunday evening.
I'll be talking up the SWICG Forum and Threaded Discussions Task Force, and what we're working on to solve one of fedi's hard problems: combating the notion that "the fediverse is quiet". Come and listen!
Thank you to the great folks at @ngizero@mastodon.xyz, who have kindly funded my way there this year.
