We hope that this contract sets a precedent for tech workers across the country – because every tech worker deserves guaranteed raises, just cause, flexible hybrid schedules, compensation for on-call work, and protections for those on work visas…
WE VOTED YES! (THREAD)
We are thrilled to share that our members have voted to ratify our new three-year collective bargaining agreement with #NYTimes…
We are setting a precedent for tech workers across the country. Every tech worker deserves a union – now more than ever.
We fought hard for this contract because we love our jobs. And now, thanks to our members and support from our siblings at #NYGuild, #NewsGuild, CODE-CWA, CWA District 1, the New York City Central Labor Council, New York State AFL-CIO and all of YOU, we have a historic deal.
WE HAVE A DEAL
We are thrilled to announce we have reached a tentative three-year agreement with #NYTimes, pending ratification by our members. There’s so much to share but here are just a few highlights of the deal:
WE HAVE A DEAL: We have reached a tentative agreement with the #NYTimes for our members. Read more here...
We stand in solidarity with members across the #NewsGuild whose vital organizing efforts would be threatened by this bill. Contact your representatives now to let them know your concerns. https://actionnetwork.org/letters/tell-your-reps-vote-no-on-hr-9495-nonprofits-are-not-terrorist-organizations
Over the last 8 days, we accomplished something extraordinary: we held the first tech-workers strike in the nation, ran one of the first and largest remote pickets in the nation, and pulled off a successful boycott of both NYT Cooking and Games.
After an unprecedented Election Week ULP strike, we returned to work today and have called off the NYT Games and Cooking boycotts.
A WARNING TO THE TIMES: Tuesday, we will be returning to work, after a successful Election Week ULP Strike. We clearly demonstrated how valuable our work is to #NYTimes. And now we’ll move our fight inside.
If you'd like to support our workers and keep us on the line longer, you can donate to our Strike Solidarity Fund. https://gofund.me/f9e58629
It's day 4 of our ULP strike and it's time to #TurnUpTheHeat for #NYTimes management.
We are asking for support from all of our home cooks out there! Hold the picket line with us by #NotCookingToday - stay off #NYTCooking while we fight for just cause, fair pay and remote work protections.
If you would like to support us, donate to our solidarity fund to help our most vulnerable members and help keep us on the picket line: https://gofund.me/f9e58629
We are back on the picket line outside #NYTimes for day 4 of our ULP strike! We are fighting for fair pay, remote worker protections and just cause, and we are not backing down!
PLAYING GAMES: In the great tradition of strike publications, we offer our tech-worker version. https://nytimesguild.org/tech/guild-builds/
Now you can play and not be a scab. We also want to thank the multitude of #NYTimes subscribers who have stopped playing and honored our digital picket line.
It is day 3 of our ULP strike and there is nothing that will keep our members off the picket line. We organized this union to bring democracy to our workplace and we will do whatever it takes to win the contract we deserve.
Leadership @ #NYTimes is claiming that our ULP strike puts our core mission at stake, but we are here precisely because we're committed to our mission and committed to democracy in the workplace. Support us if you can: https://gofund.me/f9e58629
Meet Erica! She is the Product Manager for our Home Delivery distribution systems and works to ensure the paper can be delivered to our subscribers every morning. Today, she's on the picket line, fighting for a better tomorrow for the people who make #NYTimes.
Our leadership @ #NYTimes to pretend we’re replaceable, claiming they have a “robust plan in place” for handling election night traffic, but we know the truth: That plan is built on our labor.
