'Right-wing cable channel Newsmax defamed Dominion Voting Systems by falsely reporting that the company was involved in rigging the 2020 presidential election, a Delaware judge ruled Wednesday.

Damages will be decided by a jury in a trial that will begin April 28 unless a settlement is reached. Dominion is seeking $1.6 billion. The jury has to determine if Newsmax acted with actual malice.'

It started when #Musk and #Trump demanded from the Republicans in the House to abolish the #debtceiling so they can give super big tax cuts to the rich

Now, I assume this is NOT what #foxnews #newsmax and many R callers to #CSPANWJ will be saying.

I bet, 2 to 4 more years of seeing this #disinformation, Trump hailing, “SUCCESS in Washington!”

The trouble began on Wednesday when Johnson trailed the original congressional spending bill he had negotiated with Democrats that would have funded the government until March 14 next year and provided $100bn in disaster relief for hurricane-hit states and $10bn for farmers. Hoping to get the CR signed off so that he and his fellow lawmakers could head home for the holidays, the speaker was caught off guard when Musk began posting his objections to it on X and declared it “should not pass”. A statement from Trump and Vance duly followed, warning House Republicans not to support it and that they could face a primary challenge if they did, demanding a “streamlined” CR in its place that would suspend or abolish the debt ceiling to allow for further borrowing. Johnson obediently scrapped his near-1,600 page original agreement in favour of a much slimmer 116-page one giving the president-elect precisely what he wanted, only for Jeffries to dismiss it as “laughable” before handing down a crushing defeat in the House.

It wasn’t so different from the *communications* strategy deployed by #Newsmax right up until they settled: Talk a lot about things that have little to do w/2020. Days earlier, the pro-#Trump network had put out a stmnt slamming Mugica’s firm as “the preferred #election company for #Venezuela’s brutal #Chavez / #Maduro regime” & sniffing that the court should never have allowed “a company w/such a sordid reputation to pursue a defamation claim against a media company.”

In fact, no sooner had the #Newsmax settlement been announced last Thurs than #Fox’s *PR* op was out w/a stmnt seemingly unrelated to the question of whether or not the voting-machine company was defamed in 2020: “#Smartmatic’s President & Co-Founder, as well as one current & one fmr executive, were federally indicted for #bribery” involving a #Philippine govt contract.

But he’s due in court early next yr for a case against the biggest #conservative network of all: #FoxNews, which #Smartmatic is suing for $2.7B over alleged false claims related to #Trump’s loss.
