I'm trying to move away from ppt for many reasons and curious about alternatives.I already use notion to organize my teaching material, so being able to present directly from the same place has a lot of appeal. I also appreciate its forced simplicity -- there's only so fancy you can make it look. If you're using notion like this I would love to know how you are making it work!

punk rock gay garden gnomeRecently picked up this system for my obsidian daily notes. It lets me create a captains log where I drop things in my daily note with an in-line property that will pull that content into another "log" file, so I don't have to worry about leaving the page or copy pasting things from my daily journal into the places it's "supposed" to go. For example, i can talk about gaming, research, etc. with a time stamp throughout the day, then I gave a game log file that queries for those mentions and puts it all together, organized by the date. This system is something I really liked when I was using Futureland journals for microjournaling. I considered if I could just do this in Obsidian bases (their equivalent of notion table feature) because people will use that to display the summary line of each of their journal entries for a quick view, but bases doesn't support in-line properties and it likely would get complicated if you query a property more than once in the same file. 7ZZ7I've been thinking about using <a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/Obsidian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Obsidian</a> as an alternative to <a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/Notion" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Notion</a>, so I finally got around to downloading it and imported my Notion pages. The import was really fast, that was nice, but it lost a whole load of formatting (sort of inevitable since they are different apps) and some information has disappeared, which is not so nice because it's kind of annoying to lose all that work. At least that work isn't lost forever since it's still on my Notion account, but it means I'm not so sure Obsidian is going to be the useful alternative to Notion that I was hoping for (honestly I don't think anything is, which is also annoying because I don't like how Notion keeps pushing use of AI)
