Omitting much praise, passages from a review of my keynote address on AI via Zoom in Sarajevo, translated from Bosnian:
Professor Steve McCarty in Japan: Artificial Intelligence Will Not Replace Educators
... artificial intelligence will impact teaching in much of the world and emphasizes the importance of the time students spend with teachers, whether in the classroom or online ...
Professor McCarty pointed out that artificial intelligence in education today is where online education was 30 years ago, meaning that AI in education and education of AI generate a new field for development. He emphasized that relying on AI can make knowledge an accessory rather than an individual’s expertise, [for example] the long-term effects of auto-translation and/or AI on foreign language acquisition and the impact on bilingual identity, cultural adaptation, and multiculturalism.
