Disappointing that academic journals still convert vector graphics to low-quality figures.

- Our accepted manuscript contains only vector graphics
- We shared our original vector files during final submission + proofing

Yet the final typeset version contains this fuzzy mess. 🤦‍♂️

Alrighty. Several hours later, and I have Tarrant County's updated early voting locations :D

Overpass-turbo query: overpass-turbo.eu/s/21qx

Actual location info from county (can match up the numbers on the map to addresses): tarrantcountytx.gov/content/da

And a reddit post in the FortWorth subreddit: reddit.com/r/FortWorth/comment

So far, I only have locations that serve (at least) as early voting centers. There are several more pages of day-of voting centers that I could conceivably add. I'm debating building a small, static, mobile website with #Leaflet to perhaps make a "show me my closest voting station" feature, and maybe a "schedule my voting time" feature that spits out an ical file or something. The opening hours are all there in the OSM data.

(Annoying sidenote: most college/university locations are either early vote only, election day only, or not open at all :()

I recently developed a thing to turn a Conversations chat* into a PDF.

codeberg.org/moji/typst-conver

That story began with a friend of mine that had got a XMPP group chat where they shared updates and pictures of their latest travel adventure. Now chat is rather ephemeral and they wanted to preserve those memories in an easy accessible format that is PDF. And so I put something together.

* actually any chat as long as you can get the raw data in the expected format

Hello #Blind and #VisuallyImpaired community! 👋
I'm having trouble signing PDF documents with a digital certificate using my #screenreader (NVDA on Windows). I can do it in Adobe Reader but it's quite cumbersome and requires sighted assistance.
Does anyone have a more accessible workflow or software recommendation for signing PDFs with a digital certificate using the keyboard and a screen reader? Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!
Could you please #Boost this so it reaches more people? Thank you in advance! 🙏 #Accessibility #NVDA #PDF #DigitalSignature #AssistiveTechnology @NVAccess

Are there any simple PDF editing tools that don't require a lot of money or a monthly subscription?

All I want to do is
- rotate a page (the scanner decided it was sideways for some reason)
- possibly replace pages (if I find that I need to rescan one)
- runs on Windows

Thanks
