@Free_Press Russian captivity..

I heard a lot about that during my formative years as a child from my grandparents.

Toned down, of course, but stories about the kind of abuse Russians inflict on their prisoners of war have been part of my upbringing.

I believe this is why Eastern Europe can see what Russia is doing very clearly, while the West does not.

We share a common multi-generational trauma that makes us resistant to their lies.

No end to any #sanctions on #Russia until they:
a) return to 1992 borders, including #Georgia
b) pay full reparations to #Ukraine and #Georgia
c) remove all troops from #Ukraine, #Moldova, #Georgia, #Syria and the entire #African continent
d) hold free and fair elections
e) hand over all indicted individuals to the #ICC
f) return all #POWs and kidnapped #Ukranian citizens
g) disarm
h) say thank you

"Feb 5, 2025
Ukraine brought back 150 Ukrainian service members from Russian captivity, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Feb. 5, marking the latest prisoner exchange between Kyiv and Moscow.
The released Ukrainian captives included members of the Navy, the Air Force, the Airborne Troops, the National Guard, the State Border Guard, the Territorial Defense Forces, and a police officer, according to the president.
They are all from different sectors of the front, but they have one thing in common: They fought for Ukraine," Zelensky said on Telegram.
Some POWs had been held captive for more than two years, according to Zelensky. Among the released soldiers are those in serious condition. They have a long rehabilitation and recovery ahead, Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko reported.
At the same time, Russia announced the return of 150 Russian prisoners of war (POWs) from Ukrainian captivity. During the last exchange, which took place on Dec. 30, 2024, 189 people returned from Russian captivity.
In 2024, 1,358 Ukrainians were released, and since the beginning of the all-out war, 3,956 Ukrainians have returned from Russian captivity, Zelensky said in his New Year's address."

I feel very sorry for their family. But the most likely explanation is that all of the living children were actually released in November.

Israel's negotiations team were offered the three bodies and their (at the time) living father, in exchange for zero prisoners in return. But Netanyahu turned down the offer, simply because it was bad publicity.

It makes no sense for Gaza's government to have lied, because Gaza had more to gain by releasing them alive.

Whereas images of these poor kids – who have almost certainly been dead for over a year – have been used to build global public support for an Israeli invasion that killed over ten thousand other children, and caused 3000 children to require amputations.

I might be wrong but I'm not optimistic. If I'm right, I hope the family demand accountability for the way their grief has been so prolonged and exploited.

(names omitted because the family have more than enough grief already)

#Russian soldier #Yevgeny_Ulantsov, who took part in the shooting of #Ukrainian prisoners of war, has been captured in #Russia's #Kursk region.

He is 21 and signed a contract less than a month ago. He said that it was commanders who gave orders to shoot #POWs, which confirms the fact that this is a deliberate policy of the #Russian leadership and not accidents.

#Ukraine meets all the requirements of the Geneva Conventions for the detention of prisoners of war. A Ukrainian journalist showed the conditions in which they live and what they eat.

While Ukrainian #POWs tell stories about how they caught a mouse in captivity and ate it. They return from russian captivity exhausted, thin and traumatized.
