Mal gespannt was da übers Jahr mehr bleibt. Stephen Collins<p>Our PV+battery has been up about little over a week now. Today was hot and sunny; the first day of a 4-day heatwave and topped out at 31C while staying pretty humid.</p><p>We had AC on in a couple of rooms most of the day, using 26kWh of energy for all activity. The PV array produced nearly 44kWh of energy. We consumed 16kWh from the battery. At about 4:00pm, the battery was full.</p><p>Presently, the battery is discharging as we consume electricity from it, and it exports to the grid. Over the day, and across two price spikes we've exported 23kWh of energy. It's clearly not going to be any less in coming days.</p><p>On less sunny and hot days, it looks like we'll generate around 2x our consumption. On hot days like this, it will be even more (</p><p>Yes, it's going to take a handful of years to recover the outlay, but at this rate, we’ll both completely offset the cost of electricity supply to our house as well as earn enough FiT to offset a significant proportion of electricity supply for our guest cottages.</p><p>In NSW (and I believe other states), there are significant state government rebates on batteries alongside federal rebates on PVs. Leszek Ciesielski<p>Initial findings from the installation of <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/SolarEdge" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SolarEdge</span></a> <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/EV" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>EV</span></a> Charger:<br>- it is actually a KEBA KeContact P30 device<br>- there's off-the-shelf accessories available (such as mounting posts) once you know the real name<br>- the initial connection setup is *very* fiddly, until you get it to connect to Wi-Fi<br>- seriously, do yourself a favour and connect it via Ethernet, you have to run a 32A rated 3 phase cable to it anyway<br>- <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/PV" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PV</span></a> power following works, however: minimum charging current is 6A per phase, so 4.14 kW on a 3-phase connection<br>- there's an optional KeContact S10 phase-switcher device that allows the charger to switch between 3-phase and 1-phase operation modes, this allow 1-phase charging with power as low as 1.38 kW<br>- I'm reasonably sure this can be installed afterwards too, if I find the 3-phase only operation not toggling on often enough with my PV system<br>- once enabled, it integrates into the SolarEdge app nicely enough<br>- I've also got it exporting data into <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/HomeAssistant" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HomeAssistant</span></a>, still need to verify data correctness</p>

They found that 40% transparency maintained a greater than 80% yield of uncovered plants. If all strawberry farms in the world were converted to <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/agrivoltaics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>agrivoltaics</span></a>, they would produce up to 173 TWh a year. </p><p>by Lior Kahana, February 25, 2025 </p><p>"The experiment started on February 20, 2024; data was collected across 112 days. Per the results, the average fresh weight of the control strawberries was up to 50.8 g. The 10% transparency module had underneath a fresh weight of up to 9.5 g, the 30% had 15 g, the 40% had 25.5 g, the 50% had 20 g, the 60% performed with 19.5 g, the 70% with 51.7 g and the 80% transparency had an average fresh weight of 30.7 g.</p><p>"'The results indicate that strawberries grown under 70% transparency PV modules exhibited a fresh weight 140.6% of the average control,' the group said. 'Additionally, yields exceeding 80% of the control were observed with 40%, 50%, and 80% transparent PV modules, which makes their deployment legal for areas that have agrivoltaics policy based on maintaining a greater than 80% yield.'</p><p>"Based on their data, the academics conducted a statistical analysis that proved that the transparency rate impacts the growth yield. This analysis found a strong positive correlation between the measured photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) and strawberry fresh weight, with Pearson’s correlation coefficient (r) of 0.693. PAR represents the portion of light that plants use for photosynthesis.</p><p>"In addition, the researchers used their results and the system advisor model (SAM) software to estimate the electricity generation potential of strawberry agrivoltaics farms in Canada and globally. They found that the Canadian potential ranges between 595 GWh and 1,786 GWh annually, depending on the transparency level of the modules. That will result in a CO2 emission reduction of 65 kilotons (kt) to 196 kt annually.
