More than half of the trees I've planted are grown from seed, I guesstimate.
Hundreds of trees, dozens of species of tree seeds grown over the last 8 years. Sooo worth the wait...
My heart is overjoyed!

We are beginning a many years-long #permaculture project out in Veneta OR this year. The first projects will be a good-sized Mandala garden in Zone 1 and dryfarming using, beans, grains and squashes in Zone 5. If successful these are important as our #food systems become ever more challenged.

Was feeling this morning like we've been neglecting the community allotment this year. We've been short staffed and some of our regular volunteers have been unwell. I had a lovely afternoon down there potting up many things that had self seeded accompanied by lots of buzzing bees loving the lungwort and honey berry flowers. Now have many pots of strawberries, chives, foxgloves to pass on and lots of things are growing happily so all ok. #gardening #permaculture #Allotment #AllotmentLife
Buckwheat microgreens are ready to harvest in my kitchen. Great salads for next week!

Hi! I just joined, and while I figure this out, let me tell you a bit about me.
I'm a maker of dolls inspired by nature, folklore, labyrints of myth, mind and magic. My dolls are mostly witches, and when they leave my home, they often become altar dolls. It's been a weird and interesting journey of doll making for the past 7 years, 600+ dolls now live in homes and collections around the world.
Besides crafting dolls I'm into permaculture, paganism, self-sufficiency, foraging and neverending self-development. I'm a forest dweller, mushroom hunter, food grower and herb lover deep in the countryside in Latvia (North-Eastern Europe). All of that I might occasionally share here. I would love to connect with like-minded people, so, if you're here, say 'hi'! I hope you are somewhere here...

I planted twenty bulbs a couple of years ago. Only two have come up this year or, rather, not been eaten by our visitor, the muntjac.

Great!
With her enthusiasm she will get everyone within minutes!
And a role model of its best especially for younger people!
I'm thinking of reactivating my balcony, even though I suffer under severe vertigo. I haven't been on my balcony for decades, so she may have done a tremendous job!

New "keyhole" type bed in the allotment. Decided we had a bit too much grass and not enough growing space. The bed will be potatoes this year, and maybe perennials in the future. All materials were reclaimed and mostly dug out of the ground in the allotments

The bee population die off that has stricken the United States agricultural sector is a four alarm fire.
They don’t have a solid idea why this is happening, but this die off is occurring in parallel to the mass die off of insect populations all over the world and the unraveling of the food web.

I wish I could share the scent of the lemon blossoms
Even on the blustery day, it's filling the air
Chickasaw plums are blooming. Took some pics with a loupe. Think this one turned out kinda dreamy.

Quarterly Updates: The Rebirth of Spring
Greetings from the Holy Mojave in its period of yearly renewal: as heat returns to us with the return of the Sun to the Northern hemisphere, so, too, does life begin its frantic rush to living before the heat slows it temporarily. We experienced the Spring Equinox on March 20th, and so return and rebirth are on our minds.
We believe that humans are a keystone species, and that our role is the careful stewardship of the ecosystems we a a part of. This belief underpins our philosophy and intention, and serves as the basis for the work of sowing seeds and routing water, allocating resources to plants and animals that serve the land as we do.
This is our first release of a continuous series of quarterly updates aligning with our Wheel of the Year observances and so we will, just this once, start from the beginning. We hope each quarterly update reminds you how capable you are to make the changes you wish to see in your own community, your own landbase.

I'm a first time seed germinator. I'm nervous. Any tips? Trying to do some #permaculture #gardening in #Florida. Just bought these seeds hope they're a good pick. We've got lots of heat and sandy acidic soil.
