Great_Albums<p><a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/PickOfTheWeek" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PickOfTheWeek</span></a> - <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/SleaterKinney" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SleaterKinney</span></a> – Little Rope (2024). Completed in the wake of personal tragedy (Carrie Brownstein's mother and step-father passed in 2022), SK's latest sounds less aggrieved than determined to forge onwards in a complex world. "Hell" sounds its bells at the start, before "Say it Like You Mean It" and "Hunt You Down" meld SK's bristling indie rock with new wave textures. "Untidy Creature" is one of those tunes I'll play on repeat, feet planted by the stereo. </p><p><a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/CurrentSpins" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CurrentSpins</span></a></p>
Great_Albums<p><a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/PickOfTheWeek" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PickOfTheWeek</span></a> - <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Magnum" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Magnum</span></a> – Here Comes the Rain (2024). This new release by the stalwart English rock band finds them in hyperdrive on the bracing opener, "Run into the Shadows" and string-embellished "Some Kind of Treachery." Brethren like Styx and Marillion echo in Magnum's supersized arrangements, with tight harmonies and huge choruses. </p><p>Sadly, the album is a swan song for songwriter-guitarist Tony Clarkin, who died January 7, five days before the release date. </p><p><a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/NewReleases" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>NewReleases</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/RockMusic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RockMusic</span></a></p>
Great_Albums<p><a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Sprints" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Sprints</span></a> - Letter to Self (2024). This new release is the debut album by a Dublin quartet led by the fiery Karla Chubb, who sounds like PJ Harvey channeling early Chrissie Hynde. The band is a pop-punk quartet alternating quiet, brooding passages with eruptions into sonic fury. Pixies, IDLES, and early Siouxie inhabit the group's DNA. Opener "Ticking" is a tense wakeup call, and "Shaking Their Hands" is a scorching statement of purpose. </p><p><a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/PickOfTheWeek" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PickOfTheWeek</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Bandcamp" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Bandcamp</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/NewReleases" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>NewReleases</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/GreatRockAlbums" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>GreatRockAlbums</span></a></p>
Allison Levine 🥂<p>When friends told me they were coming to Los Angeles for the weekend and said they wanted to meet for lunch, I wanted to pick a place that was as visually pleasing as it was delicious. The first place that came to mind is Cara Cara, the rooftop restaurant at The Proper Hotel in downtown LA. Sitting on the 15th floor with sweeping 360-degree city views, it is no wonder that Cara Cara has been named "Best Hotel Rooftop 2022" by Angeleno Magazine, one of "15 Rooftop Bars with Incredible LA Views" by Eater LA, and one of "The Best New Patios in LA" by The Infatuation. And Cara Cara, with its vibrant colors, fresh flavors, friendly service, and great views, is the <a href="https://epicure.social/tags/pleasethepalate" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pleasethepalate</span></a> <a href="https://epicure.social/tags/pickoftheweek" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pickoftheweek</span></a></p><p><a href="https://pleasethepalate.com/please-the-palate-pick-of-the-week-cara-cara-rooftop-restaurant-at-the-proper-hotel-in-downtown-los-angeles/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">pleasethepalate.com/please-the</span><span class="invisible">-palate-pick-of-the-week-cara-cara-rooftop-restaurant-at-the-proper-hotel-in-downtown-los-angeles/</span></a></p>
Allison Levine 🥂<p>They say good things come in small packages and that saying holds true when it comes to small plates, especially at San Laurel Restaurant at the Conrad Los Angeles in downtown LA. Located on the 10th floor of a hotel, this is not a typical hotel restaurant. Modern and bustling with views of Disney Hall and the surrounding downtown LA, San Laurel is home to Michelin-starred chef and humanitarian José Andrés and the <a href="https://epicure.social/tags/pleasethepalate" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pleasethepalate</span></a> <a href="https://epicure.social/tags/pickoftheweek" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pickoftheweek</span></a> </p><p><a href="https://pleasethepalate.com/please-the-palate-pick-of-the-week-jose-andres-san-laurel-restaurant-at-the-conrad-los-angeles/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">pleasethepalate.com/please-the</span><span class="invisible">-palate-pick-of-the-week-jose-andres-san-laurel-restaurant-at-the-conrad-los-angeles/</span></a></p>
