Some thoughts:
- While the "mini" part of minirack might be debatable for this build, the footprint of my Proxmox cluster has become miniscule when compared to the size of three full-sized ATX builds.
- The Minisforum MS-A2s are very warm bois. Keeping the cables clear from behind the server nodes will pay off tons later as the hot air is unobstructed.
- Putting those massive power bricks into the bottom of the minirack is not going to work. I'm not sure exactly what I'm going to do with them, but for now they stay outside of the case
- The QNAP QSW-M3216R-8S8T switch was perfect for this setup. A little pricey, but has been pretty painless to get configured and running
- This thing got weighty _fast_
Creating & joining a #Proxmox cluster with #Ansible has never been easier than it is now with my new Ansible module!
My new Ansible module "proxmox_cluster" just made its way into the upstream Ansible Community Proxmox collection and can now be used with Ansible Galaxy.
With my additional toolings, we install Proxmox VE nodes in a fully automated way (even with my new cloud images), create clusters with proxmox_cluster module and load balance the guest VMs with my ProxLB tool.
Further adventures in #NixOS on #proxmox. Now that I've got a VM straight off the hydra build site running in proxmox I'm setting it up to be a build server of my own using nixos-generators. Some hints for those doing similar thing... Resize the disk, then use fdisk to resize the partition, then resize2fs to fill the partition or you'll run out of disk.
Also I like systemd networkd for the networking but make sure you dont have conflicting configs.
Happy to announce, that there'll be a talk about my #ProxLB project at the Dutch #Proxmox Day 2025!
In "The Art of Balance – Dynamic Load Management in Proxmox with ProxLB", @formorer (from our company @credativde speaks about the opportunities by integrating such solutions into your Proxmox cluster!
Thanks to the Tuxis Team for providing us this opportunity!
Feel free to join the Dutch Proxmox Day - 25.09.2025!
Proxmox for Enterprises: Imagine DRS-Like Guest Load Balancing!
ProxLB automatically rebalances VMs & Containers across a Proxmox cluster based on memory, CPU, and local disk usage, and can suggest the best nodes for further automation within CI/CDs. It supports maintenance mode, affinity and anti-affinity rules, and integrates seamlessly with the Proxmox API and ACL system. No SSH, just pure API! The best - it's free & #opensource
I love #PocketID, a light weight #selfhosted #OIDC using only #Passkey.
After using it for several months with an LXC installation using Proxmox Helper Scripts, I noticed that the service runs as root. I also learned that a VM installation is more secure than an LXC. This article will guide you through installing Pocket-ID as a non-root service on Debian. Additionally, there's an upgrade script included.

Okay, so maybe the Debian installer didn’t include microcode by default? Or maybe I screwed it up when setting up that server? Or it broke over an update?
But, surely, if you were using an appliance like Proxmox for virtualization, such a system would have microcode updates enabled by default, right?
I have bad news for you.
You should probably check all your servers and OSes to see if microcode updates work!
