"Sex and Candy" is a song by American #alternativeRock group #MarcyPlayground, a single from their 1997 self-titled debut album. It is a #postgrunge song with #psychedelic elements. Lead singer #JohnWozniak was inspired to write the song after a woman told him that a room smelled like "sex and candy." The song's abstract lyrics refer to the #disco era and include #hippie lingo. In 1997, Wozniak said that "Sex and Candy" is an unorthodox love song; later.

Slide into your Saturday evening with a dose of The Mechanics of Mysticism. It's a full-ride scholarship to higher realms of consciousness that pairs great with whatever entheogens you have handy. Works great on its own, too!

"Just as you think he might be laying his hat in more folky terrain he's off on an electroacoustic, voyage full of precision placed and played micro-sounds that gives folktronica a cosmic Americana injection"

There's about 3 hours left of #BandcampFriday! So I"m hoping to get one more last wave of folks to check out my music tonight, specifically my latest album, The Mechanics of Mysticism.

Greetings fellow sentients! It's #BandcampFriday so may I entreat you to consider my musical wares? I am an enthusiast of warbly squelchy weird rock music, and I like to record my own that I hope reflects that!
My latest is sci-fi rock opera concept album about fleeing a ruined earth. It's just a story though and has no bearing in reality, because everything is just fine here!!! Pic related, it's yours truly. Thank you!

imagine one day you are wandering in the woods and you pass through a strange shimmering barrier. on the other side in a clearing you find on the mossy ground a strange looking cassette. the tape itself seems to shimmer with a strange iridescent glow, and on it is written ‘lofi beats to…’ but the last part is smudged and unreadable

next to it you see an old cassette tape player, powered through no visible means. though something tells you this may not be a good idea, you pop the tape in and press play…

The prompt is Insect

Echo & the Bunnymen, “Bedbugs and Ballyhoo” 1985

With this track, originally released as the B-side to their single “Bring On the Dancing Horses," #EchoAndTheBunnymen wear their Doors influence on their sleeves. When they rerecorded it for their eponymous full length release two years later, #RayManzarek himself added organ and it fits perfectly. Many prefer the earlier, leaner version, the last recording with that fresh, earnest (lower budget?) Bunnymen charm, but I also love the way the arguably more commercial 1987 Bunnymen came roaring out of my speakers, and find it hard to pick.

After initially dismissing the lyrics as delightful nonsense, I've come to think there’s meaning lurking here (Colonization, anyone?) but I often listen untroubled by analysis, just letting the swirling Liverpudlian post-punk incense and peppermint wash over me.
