The QLD government confirmed the 2032 Olympic Games venues, which includes that new 63k-seat stadium in the middle of Barrambin / Victoria park.

Bruce Abernethy says:

"Barrambin has been a meeting place for peoples from across Southeast Queensland for tens of thousands of years; providing a new reason to gather there would continue that cultural tradition."

That's one way to turn an insult... into another one.

I have a vague memory of a book I loved as a kid. It was about a family who visited a rainforest, possibly on an island, in North Queensland, and the pictures were photos with mysterious, partially transparent dinosaurs, that possibly changed visiblity depending on the angle you look at it? No idea what it was called or even if it's a real memory. If anyone knows what I'm talking about, please tell me the title!

Abortion rights are under attack in Australia.

_____

The Queensland crossbencher Robbie Katter says he will consider forcing a vote to recriminalise abortion if the Liberal National party wins government at this month’s state election.

Katter says he will table legislation to wind back current laws with one option a “clean repeal” of Labor’s 2018 Termination of Pregnancy Act, a move that would return abortion to the 1899 criminal code.

It is the extent of the mistrust I think.

Governments are far from perfect and recognising there have been serious problems in their functioning in areas such as #AgedCare, #RoboDebt, #InstitutionalisedAbuseOfChildren, pandemic preparations and spying on East Timor, is very different to saying there is deliberate plotting to make #Australia into a totalitarian state.

Dutton seems to be trying to create copies of the #Qld #SchoolPrincipal and wife who killed cops.

So, it's winter here in the Southern Hemisphere… and lately around Brisbane it's been a wee bit on the chilly side.

I've been watching the COVID-19 stats pretty closely… and actually, for Queensland, the Reff is looking pretty good… but Victoria/NSW its going through the roof. What happens down there, usually happens up here a fortnight later.

I had said earlier this year that I'd make an effort with masking… basically if I'm by myself and the activity I'm partaking in won't be impeded by a mask, I'm now masking.

Full-face with P2 filters, and a crude exhaust filter.

Yesterday I needed to get some banking done, then some shopping… I needed the mask off for the former, but soon as I got out, on it went.

I think I spotted two others masked.

Tonight, needed some milk, so I masked all the way there and back… I got asked "why the respirator", and I pointed out I didn't want the winter lurgies…

Still feels socially awkward … but I guess the more I do it, the less awkward it'll seem.
