bojkotiMalbona
@Psyvacy Fraud is impossible because the surveys from qualtrics are not profitable to the survey contributors (AFAIK; fraud entails using deception to profit).

IP reputation is a crude and blunt instrument that undermines most surveys by excluding the whole demographic of digital rights proponents which silences important voices; yielding only results from people unconcerned with privacy.

The survey URLs are unique and distributed by email to solicit known individual prospective contributors through that apparently unique URL, which they can ensure only submits one ballot. That’s apparently how some of the #Qualtrics surveys work.

I’ve not done a deep dive on their business but if they are also distributing non-unique URLs to survey to many people, the questions need to be clever.

The two types of surveys obviously have different needs and challenges, so it’s probably unwise to try to use the same canned platform for both. Adding compensation complicates the approach considerably more.

A Tor-blocking CAPTCHA-pushing survey is only sensible if you actually intend to survey the demographics of tech illiterates and those apathetic about tech rights. If that demographic is inappropriate for the research, then qualtrics is unsuitable. You cannot ignore the /observer effect/. Qualtrics amplifies the observer effect with disregard.

The ironic injustice is that as I am hit with survey after survey from financial institutions, I have lots of feedback to give them about how their banking website (for example) blocks me or pushes CAPTCHA, and yet the survey itself has the same problems hindering me from participating. They sometimes say “how is our website? Take this survey… (qualtrics)…” I cannot give feedback about the ways in which their website is shitty when the survey itself is even more broken.

So in most surveys I find them to be excluding the demographic of people they most need to hear from. It’s an addiction to digital transformation. The option to send paper surveys with a prepaid return envelope is being overlooked in too many situations.

@AstaMcCarthy @proffnes

I suppose the survey pusher must be a charity that the survey taker really wants to help.

I primarily just get Qualtrics surveys from financial institutions who repeatedly nag me to take their survey. Every single time I get a 403 forbidden (Tor is blocked). So they want to force me to disclose even more personal data than the survey itself calls for, even if the survey pusher follows @renebekkers’s guide¹. Yikes.. then hearing from other ppl who can reach the site that they must solve a captcha and dance for them.. what a shit-show. Who are these ppl willing to bend over backwards to give both data and labor for nothing?

So, here is my question: how can I stop all senders (financial institutions in particular) from sharing my email address with Qualtrics? The bottom of these nags has an unsubscribe button. I generally avoid those as they signal that me email address is live. But what if I visit those unsubscribe links? Will it unsubscribe all future qualtrics nags by that sender?

…Oh shit… 403 error. So we cannot unsubscribe without compromising more data.
