The #Trump admin is terminating nearly all of the remaining 900 employees of the #USAID, in a final reduction-in-force #RIF.

Virtually no one will be spared, not even political appointees, acc/to 2 snr USAID ofcls….

Staff were ordered to leave "the front office" by 1PM on Fri for reasons that are not clear, the ofcls said. But they may still be asked to continue working for a few months.

The federal #StudentLoan portfolio — which includes about $1.6T in loans for ~43M borrowers — is currently overseen by the #Education Dept's office of Federal #Student #Aid (#FSA). That office has been gutted by the recent raft of buyouts, early retirements & last week's broad reduction-in-force [#RIF].

It was not clear, based on #Trump's announcement, how or if the remaining employees & expertise at FSA would be transferred to the SBA.

A 2nd bullet point states: “#RIF the Phase 2 offices’ *corrupted* branches,” referring to what DOGE has determined are #DEI elements of offices required by #law. The bullet point concludes: “We are exploring options for this.”

One such option emerged this week. On Tues, #Trump signed an #ExecutiveOrder paving the way for #FederalAgencies to reshape or terminate offices legally mandated to exist.

Spez really tripling down on being the villain CEO archetype in his interview with The Verge about the #Reddit blackout.

“They threw in the towel” he says in reference to #Apollo and #RIF closing down due to the exorbitant API pricing.

The highlight is the claim that it costs Reddit $10m in infra cost alone to support “these apps”. This coming from the same company that claimed Apollo was “inefficient” because it’d cost $20m/year in API costs to run.

So it begins the death of every third party client on reddit thus going the way of every other centralized service which is all too familiar.
