jendefer<p><a href="https://dice.camp/tags/RPGaDay2024" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RPGaDay2024</span></a> Day 31</p><p>In 2001 I moved to Baltimore and started adult life. I’d played AD&amp;D during high school but hadn’t been able to fit it into college. After a few months at my new job, a few coworkers invited me to start up a d20 Star Wars game with them because I seemed "the <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/ttrpg" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ttrpg</span></a> type.” Why yes, yes I was. We played every Tuesday evening, and it was crucial for me settling into a new city and forging new friendships. Work took me away from Baltimore a decade ago, and I miss that old gang!</p>
J. Alan Henning<p>People I'd like to game with—Vince and Meguey Baker, since they invented the style of TTRPG that I most enjoy right now, and I'm currently running an Apocalypse World: Burned Over campaign. They have other priorities right now though: <a href="https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/480847/meguey-baker-vs-cancer-bundle" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">drivethrurpg.com/en/product/48</span><span class="invisible">0847/meguey-baker-vs-cancer-bundle</span></a></p><p>30/31<br><a href="https://dice.camp/tags/RPGaDay2024" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RPGaDay2024</span></a> <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/PbtA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PbtA</span></a></p>
jendefer<p><a href="https://dice.camp/tags/RPGaDay2024" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RPGaDay2024</span></a> Day 30</p><p>I’d like to game with my younger brother more. When I lived near him, we enjoyed a biweekly low-fantasy swashbuckling <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/GURPS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>GURPS</span></a> game with my wife, based on Tales of the Left Hand by John Meagher. But then I moved far away, both in physical space and time zone, and he has a small child now. Remote play is hard to schedule and just not the same. 😢 When <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/Genesys" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Genesys</span></a> came out, we remade the characters for a small follow-up adventure over a rare visit. </p><p><a href="http://talesofthelefthand.com/podcast/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">http://</span><span class="ellipsis">talesofthelefthand.com/podcast</span><span class="invisible">/</span></a><br><a href="https://dice.camp/tags/ttrpg" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ttrpg</span></a></p>

It has a lot of useful filters (such as which books your game uses, what tier talent you’re interested in, etc). You can use it to assemble your own customized GM screen of rules references, and there are some generators for things like gear or even settings.</p><p><a href="https://genesysref.netlify.app/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">genesysref.netlify.app/</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p>
Pulp Tickertape<p><a href="https://tabletop.vip/tags/rpgaday2024" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>rpgaday2024</span></a> Day 29. Awesome App. The only dedicated gaming app I use is Simple Dice by Caique Cunha Pereira. It does an excellent job of living up to its name.</p>
kiki<p>25 - derisable dice</p><p>I love non-platonic dice and especially these sets in the style of Mörk Borg and Cy_borg that feature a d2, d4, a 66.6° angled d6, d8, 2d10, d16, d18, and a d20 each. Also, they're large and chunky and well to read and roll. I've put a regularly sized d20 into the pic for comparison. </p><p>A friendly user on reddit made them and sold them through the Mörk Borg subreddit. </p><p><a href="https://chaos.social/tags/RPGADay2024" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RPGADay2024</span></a> <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/ttrpg" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ttrpg</span></a> <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/morkborg" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>morkborg</span></a></p>

jendefer<p><a href="https://dice.camp/tags/RPGaDay2024" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RPGaDay2024</span></a> Day 28</p><p>I learn and remember by writing things down. My memory is visual; I recall what part of a paper the information is on, but also what color the words were written in. So for ease of relocating scribbles in my GM notebook, my great gamer gadget is my 4-color BIC ballpoint pen. As I jot down notes, I seamlessly switch colors, sometimes based on what NPC I’m writing about or what location. Or just thematically. </p><p><a href="https://dice.camp/tags/GMTips" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>GMTips</span></a> <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/ttrpg" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ttrpg</span></a></p>
</p><p><a href="https://ludosphere.fr/tags/rpgaday2024" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>rpgaday2024</span></a> <a href="https://ludosphere.fr/tags/jdr" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>jdr</span></a></p>
kiki<p>24 - acclaimed advice </p><p>This book, right here! It's a collection of essays about diversity and inclusion in role-play games and it taught me A Lot. I don't think it's available in English though. </p><p><a href="https://chaos.social/tags/RPGADay2024" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RPGADay2024</span></a> <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/ttrpg" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ttrpg</span></a></p>
Pulp Tickertape<p><a href="https://tabletop.vip/tags/rpgaday2024" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>rpgaday2024</span></a> Day 27. Marvellous Miniature. I like this chap from Bob Murch's Pulp Figures. He's described as a student investigator, but I get the feeling he doesn't spend much time in lectures.</p>
jendefer<p><a href="https://dice.camp/tags/RPGaDay2024" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RPGaDay2024</span></a> Day 27</p><p>Back in the early 2000s, before my brother went full-in on D&amp;D skirmish game minis, I didn’t really have any supplies. My GM would use pencils or pens to act as walls and sometimes just throw down a bunch of d20s to be boulders or trees. (We didn’t need them; we were playing <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/GURPS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>GURPS</span></a>, which only uses d6s.) My PC was represented with a green d4, and her partner was a black d4. Then my brother cleared out his collection, and I got a shoebox full of minis.</p><p><a href="https://dice.camp/tags/ttrpg" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ttrpg</span></a></p>
mhd<p><a href="https://tilde.zone/tags/RPGaDAY2024" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RPGaDAY2024</span></a> Day 27 - Marvellous Miniature</p><p>Phew, I never bought a single miniature or collectible card in my life, it's simply not my thing.</p><p>But semi-recently a group where I actually get to be a PC had a big final fight with a three-headed dragon, alongside a few squads of axe-wielders and dwarven dragonkillers. Our GM <em>does</em> like miniatures a lot, so we had a huge landscape for that. Rather epic, and I kept quiet that TotM would've sufficed for me ;)</p>
kiki<p>23 - peerless player</p><p>I love it when players immerse in the world building, maybe even add to it. When they have wild ideas and a great sense for the theater of mind. Or when they start bringing or wearing little things that they associate with their character.</p><p><a href="https://chaos.social/tags/RPGADay2024" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RPGADay2024</span></a> <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/ttrpg" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ttrpg</span></a></p>
</p><p><a href="https://ludosphere.fr/tags/rpgaday2024" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>rpgaday2024</span></a> <a href="https://ludosphere.fr/tags/jdr" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>jdr</span></a></p>
jendefer<p><a href="https://dice.camp/tags/RPGaDay2024" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RPGaDay2024</span></a> Day 26</p><p>For me, the best GM screen is always the one I make myself, a folder with cut-out tables and random sticky note reminders of obscure rules that are hard to remember but crop off more often than I’d like. I generally lay it flat on the table. Back in the early 2000s, we were rotating different d20 games every month, and they all had slightly different rules (plus I was a real rules stickler back then). Those sticky notes were my savior.</p><p><a href="https://dice.camp/tags/ttrpg" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ttrpg</span></a></p>
