Anyone up to taking a #BahnBubble journey today, 5.41 p.m. from #Lauterbourg towards #Strasbourg ?

Currently, :sncf: :fluo: operates good old #BB67400 diesel locos hauling #RRR push pull carriages.

From Strasbourg / La Wantzenau one can either take the TER train back to Lauterbourg (with connection back to Woerth or #Karlsruhe #RK, Germany) or continue from Strasbourg on.

For Germans, the Elsass-Ticket-Plus might be a cheap EUR 7.50 option for a ticket (available at vending machine in Lauterbourg). Otherwise, regular :fluo: fares are also available.

Feel free to spontaneously hop in, I will definitely catch it.

Basically every time I walk by this book sitting out on the kotatsu I have to stop and read some of it again. That's most unusual.

There's a tidbit here in the endnotes that's shaking me in a totally different way—

'A certain hiphop artist recent said that since slavery lasted so long, it must have been a choice. During the George Floyd uprisings, I saw a photo of a young woman wearing a T-shirt that said: "We are NOT our ancestors. We WILL f*ck you up!" It made me sad, because the history of slave resistance is taught so poorly, if it is taught at all.' —p 211, Rebecca Hall, Wake: the hidden history of women-led slave revolts

I thought of the recent Indian film phenomenon RRR celebrating Indian resistance to the horrors of British colonialism. From school and popular culture, Indian children are taught to honor freedom fighters from Tipu Sultan (d. 1799) down to Gandhi as heroes if not saints. My schoolfriends in Southeast Asia similarly seemed proud of their peoples' storied resistance to successive waves of Japanese, French, British, and American aggression.

I'm filled with an unexpected unease when I contemplate what it would be to not know that my ancestors continuously fought their oppressors. It's truly a tragedy visited upon our children that the history of slave resistance is invisible in the US.

It doesn't have to be this way. I think about my Caribbean born-and-raised friend remarking with calm pride, "In the islands, we walk under statues of heroes who rose up and killed their white owners" (I boost octodon.social/@22/10410204838 every time I think of that). The pride and history is there. It's wrong to withhold it from us. #RRR #Wake #RebeccaHall

As a #Telugu-speaking South Indian-American, I recently watched #RRR feeling some pride that a #Tollywood movie was a hit in the US.

After watching it? Resounding disillusion & discomfort. And this article explains why almost perfectly - it elevates #Hindu nationalist propaganda.

"RRR" (Rise Roar Revolt) on Netflix ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

An EPIC action drama film, fantastical, big-budget, over-the-top action, a great bromance, and very good musical numbers! This is a great movie! 👏👏👏🥳

"A fictitious story abt 2 legendary revolutionaries and their journey away from home before they started fighting for their country in the 1920s."

So I finally watched 'RRR'. It is my first real Indian/Tollywood movie (I watched an Indian SF movie a while back). Once I realized that it was a superhero/epic/musical/fantasy I suspended my disbelief and got into it. The movie is gorgeous, the effects are spectacular, the singing and dancing are wonderful (even though I couldn't understand what they were saying), and the story was great. I think Ram Charan might be the sexiest man alive. #RRR #Film #CineMastodon #Tollywood #RamCharan
