steve mookie kongFinal results of tonight's K1 Speed's September Challenge GP:My son's qualification time got him into a faster bracket. He started 9th on a grid of 9. He got a great start and took two places at turn one and two. Then he raced hard and worked his way up into P6 to win the race!I was in the slower split. I started P7, got rammed and passed by P8, then fought back over a couple of laps -- he was elbows out, but at a hairpin, I took my place back on the outside! I ended up P7 out of a grid of nine.It was a super fun night of racing. My son and I had a blast. Instead of driving like a madman, I am driving a bit more sanely and safely.This is the race that got me the promotion. I qualified P7 and ended the race P6. I have no idea, I wish I could own and race one of the cars featured in this game -- like the Porsche 911 GT3 R LMGT3 -- but I have kids to put through college. Heh. There are GT drivers that have played this game and they report that it's close to real life.I am finding the AI in the game a bit blind -- rear ending me multiple times in a race and causes me to scream at my TV. Top 5 baby!This race was crazy though, my computer decided to stop sending sound to my TV, so the start of the race I was trying to race without sound -- very hard since I couldn't hear the gears. There was a huge pile up at the start -- I didn't cause it, but was part of it. That's why my Safety Rate went down. I took the time to get the sound going again, I had to visit the pits for repairs and then I just concentrated on finishing the race. I still have a lot to learn about racing. I did 20 minutes of practice and then hopped into a ranked race to see what it was like.It's not as crazy as I've seen on YouTube and it was a decent experience except for when someone divebombed and spun me out.I'll race in iRacing along with Le Mans Ultimate for online racing. iRacing has a nice variety to online races. Le Mans Ultimate has better driving physics and feel.Automobilista 2 will be my main game though. steve mookie kongI tried my best to drive safely to increase my safety rating. It meant driving a little slower and also being anxious every time some other car gets close to me -- for human drivers are crazy unpredictable.I qualified P15 and because of crazy human drivers crashing, spinning out and DNF'ing, I ended the race P15 even while driving slower. Nice.I am proud that I did not spin out. Late in the race I did brush a wall briefly at La Source because I lost focus and was staring at the timing board. These were my second and third online races and they are quite hard, I need more practice.The first race of the night was on Spa-Francorchamps in my Porsche 911 RSR-19 and this race ended in a DNF because as George Russell would say: "He turned into me!" A guy in a Corvette turned into me and disabled my engine. After getting it repaired, I was able to stay on the road and do better.
