Ordered upholstery fabric (fake leather) for the Eames knockoff chair, plus some appropriate upholstery thread of matching color. Plan to look at a (vintage!) heavy duty sewing machine this weekend for the project, as someone will draw and quarter me if I attempt upholstery on their machine. (saw many YouTube videos of people doing upholstery with that particular machine--apparently it's pretty robust-- so it's capable of it). We'll see when I eventually get to it, but having the supplies in hand will make it possible and overcome "project friction" #random #diy #projects #sewing

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the average person will have held 12.7 jobs over the course of their lifetime. My first job was as a permit cashier at a truck stop. Let me tell you, it was eye opening (and a great job for a broadcast journalist major). In addition to learning about the trucking industry, I learned about people, regionalisms, pronunciation etc.

Bleah. Failed to get a smog check. The normal smog check place I go do, the sole proprietor took Friday off. The other place (car repair) place wanted to put me in line 1-2 hrs wait, no way... Try again next week. Burnt some time and wasted gas on that. (usually drive a bit before the smog check to make sure engine/etc. all warmed up). #griping #random
