I received a request to revise and resubmit a story today, but the changes they want would make a completely different kind of story. The story in question is a nonlinear narrative written in several flash pieces, all of which have a common theme and throughline, but no common characters. The editor wants the story told from the POV of a single character, and I just can't see how that can possibly work.
