I have a couple of very large gauge knitting looms; one hand-made out of wooden pegs, and the other a Zippy Loom (which I was finally able to get recently). Kerr Avonsen (she/her)I''ve been turning some Light yarn into Super-Bulky yarn by using an electric i-cord maker. It is pretty fiddly, it needs to be constantly monitored, and it can only make about 18 inches of cord before the bundle touches the floor and has to be adjusted again. But it is still faster than doing it by hand. TanjaWhen I first started to crochet about five/six years ago, I had no clue about the different wool and yarn that is out there. Or how and when to use what. Or even what I liked. And I was really a bit overwhelmed. There was this small online shop in my country run by a very nice lady and she would occassionally offer Surprise Yarn Boxes at a discounted price. And this is how I learned about different yarns. I didn't have to choose for myself and get overwhelmed, I just received a box with random yarns. And my adventure was then to find what to make with it, learn about the fibers, discover what I like. Pictured are four of these surprise yarn projects. Ashley JubbKnitting a scarf as fast as I can, on my most ridiculous set of knitting needles I own (they're 25mm or a US size 50😂). My husband is going to Vancouver soon and is definitely going to need something to help with the cold. Now I know what you're probably thinking, using that large of needles isn't going to make a warm scarf, and you're probably right. My husband runs warm, so I wanted it to be breathable so he doesn't overheat.
