I was already excited hearing that one of my actress icons Sigourney Weaver is going to be in ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’ and was expecting maybe only a cameo of sorts but her being a (New Republic?) pilot is freaking awesome!

Last night's "it's 2:00 am and I can't sleep" watch was 'Snow White: A Tale of Terror' from 1997, starring Sigourney Weaver as the evil Queen (not really a Queen), Sam Neill in a very Sam Neill performance, and Monica Keena. It's a film I knew the existence of for quite some time, but I had never watched and didn't expect much of. But you know what? It was, all things considered, perfectly all right.

Was it a masterpiece? Not really. Did it have certain elements that make it an unmistakable product of the 90s? For sure. But it was also a solid attempt at creating a gritty, horror-themed twist to the Snow White tale that gave the Evil Queen (again, not really a Queen) more depth, multiple layers, and a (still condemnable) motive that went beyond merely being jealous of her stepdaughter's youth and beauty.

Luckily I caught it on TV again tonight, and it’s always worth a post as it never grows old. I’d nominate this as one of the greatest scenes in science fiction. Ellen Ripley, the ultimate heroine, really doing her stuff!!

Watched a #documentary about #SigourneyWeaver on the #Swedish #PublicService streaming service this evening.

I adore that woman so much. A queen and an icon, and seemingly an ally of all that is good and right.

The documentary also really hammered home that anyone trying to grandfather in #Alien and #Aliens as "non-woke" media is extremely full of shit, as even interviews from 1979 and the 80s talked about how they were breaking gender norms and embracing androgyny.

Recently watched Alien and Aliens. I have some beef with Alien3, so instead I'm moving right along to Galaxy Quest because Sigourney Weaver is the best.
