Merci !

A psychopathic president.

‘Longwell estimated that Trump might be trying to get people to look in a different direction after he backed down on his trade war.
"…like a guy with a laser pointer and the media is a bunch of cats. Is he trying to get people to chase things so they stop talking about the fact that he caved and did a total about-face on the tariffs after telling us for days that he wasn't going to do a pause? And now he's suddenly pausing because the world economy is collapsing. Is he doing this as a distraction?"
She then noted that targeting people like this can scare others away from leaking information to the public.
"And what he's trying to do here, though, is to make people afraid of speaking out against him.

‘Trump is trying to intimidate his staff from speaking out during this administration, she continued

…I mean, this is some of the most insane authoritarian stuff we've seen out of him."

I saw an interview recently where the interviewee -- who is about my age or maybe a little older -- was talking about how #socialmedia has changed things.

He said that before social media kids were either outside playing with their friends, or inside in their rooms *drawing, or playing with a keyboard, or whatever*.

If he had just added reading and programming 8-bit machines, that would actually be my childhood.

Draconian silencing attempt by Zuggerfugger's legal team gets Sarah Wynn-Williams prohibited from promoting her new autobiography of working as a PR flack for #Meta . Amongst the details she reveals are insider notes on CEO Zuggrfkr handing over dissident data while kowtowing to #CCP officials to get a #Facebook footprint in #China.

While the #Facistbook memoir remains on sale, the author herself is prohibited from engaging in constitutionally protected #FreeSpeech such as promoting or discussing the work, but the publisher is still free to promote it without her help.

#Trumptarded anti-freespeech #flunkies at Meta hailed court move from Palo Alto #PR HQ saying "ruling affirms that [the] false and #defamatory book should never have been published."

Oddly enough, the thin skinned legal muzzling, which was issued by an "Emergency Arbitrator" named Nicholas Gowen in Illinois will likely only draw more eyes to the title...

The #StreisandEffect is real and shows the title ""Careless People: A Cautionary Tale of Power, Greed, and Lost Idealism"" gaining on must read lists across the globe...

The publisher, Flatiron Books issued its own statement: "We are appalled by Meta's tactics to #silence our author through the use of a non-disparagement clause in a severance agreement...The book went through a thorough editing and vetting process, and we remain committed to publishing important books such as this."

The New York Times · Fearing Retribution, Trump Critics Muzzle ThemselvesBy Elisabeth Bumiller

I've been thinking about cultures of silence.

The latest Feminist Lecture Program lecture was about silence around sexual violence towards women in art history and how museums and even art history classes elide references to it even in very violent ("beautiful) paintings and sculpture (think The Rape of Europa, The Rape of the Sabines).

But in connection with this, recently, I've had a couple of friends say the general state of the world is "too horrible to talk about." Besides the fact that our general culture of not confronting feelings and not talking about them is a poison on individuals and society --

It's also exactly what fascist or authoritarian regimes want. All the better if you choose it yourself!

The two cultures of silence have much in common. The less people talk about it the more it can happen.

Let's reject cultures of silence for those subjects that need to be talked about, either for our mental health, public awareness, or as a form of resistance.
