ahoyboyhoy<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@Edent" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>Edent</span></a></span> not a matrix user myself and can't say <a href="https://floss.social/tags/xmpp" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>xmpp</span></a> will impress you, but there's definitely not a centralization of ownership issues. Most of that community seems to be rallied behind <a href="https://floss.social/tags/snikket" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>snikket</span></a> lately which I self-host with delight thus far. Fragmentation in feature support across clients is the biggest struggle currently. More niche, but I do funnel my WhatsApp and Mattermost messaging through my XMPP server using <a href="https://floss.social/tags/slidge" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>slidge</span></a>. Been very stable for WA, have to restart Mattermost gateway regularly.</p>

KrisSo what are we trying to do here on <a href="http://outmo.de" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">outmo.de</a> ? <br>Well, for once it is just setting up an <a class="hashtag" href="https://outmo.de/tag/akkoma" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#akkoma</a> instance that we would like to use ourselves, thus the goal isn't to grow this server to a big size.<br>Another primary goal is to develop and show-case an instance that is tightly integrated with <a class="hashtag" href="https://outmo.de/tag/xmpp" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#xmpp</a> chat as we think private chat is a natural complement to a micro-blogging website.<br>To this extend, we are going to look into integrating either <a class="hashtag" href="https://outmo.de/tag/conversejs" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#conversejs</a> or <a class="hashtag" href="https://outmo.de/tag/jsxc" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#jsxc</a> into a akkoma-fe soft-fork for easy use. Guest access via a <a class="hashtag" href="https://outmo.de/tag/xmpp" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#xmpp</a>-web client is also being considered.<br>We would also like to offer a <a class="hashtag" href="https://outmo.de/tag/slidge" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#slidge</a> XMPP gateway to people contributing to the operation of this website and might also provide some other complementary cloud services to donators.<br>So lets join forces to outmode the old centralized web :nkoHype:
