Mike maɪk<p>My daily lepidopterological (is that a new word?) activities are truly picking up, as of yesterday. <br /><a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/InMyGarden" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>InMyGarden</span></a> not one, not two, but three butterfly species visited me, and two of them gave me the stare: a Red Admiral and a Small White. The third one - a male Orange Tip - was too busy flitting about to look around.<br /><a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/butterflies" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>butterflies</span></a> <a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/SaveButterflies" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>SaveButterflies</span></a> <a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/ButterflyConservation" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>ButterflyConservation</span></a> <a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/RedAdmiral" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>RedAdmiral</span></a> <a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/SmallWhite" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>SmallWhite</span></a> <a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/OrangeTip" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>OrangeTip</span></a> <a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/butterfly" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>butterfly</span></a></p>
Mike maɪk<p>A new study gives clues as to how Lepidoptera – the order of winged insects that contains butterflies and moths – have been so resilient throughout dramatic changes on Earth. Small Whites, in large numbers here later in the year, are showing great adaptability to the changing climate.</p><p><a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/butterflies" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>butterflies</span></a> <a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/moths" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>moths</span></a> <a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/lepidoptera" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>lepidoptera</span></a> <a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/SaveButterflies" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>SaveButterflies</span></a> <a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/ButterflyConservation" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>ButterflyConservation</span></a> <a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/SmallWhite" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>SmallWhite</span></a> </p><p><a href="https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2024/feb/21/butterfly-genome-has-barely-changed-for-250m-years-study-finds-aoe?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">theguardian.com/environment/20</span><span class="invisible">24/feb/21/butterfly-genome-has-barely-changed-for-250m-years-study-finds-aoe?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other</span></a></p>
Mike maɪk<p>I was always expecting it - the invasion of the Small Whites, they are everywhere now, the most common butterfly (by numbers) around these parts &amp; in other parts of the globe where they have successfully adapted to local conditions. Brassicas &amp; other food crops (like radish, probably the Greek reference in its name ‘rapae’) beware! But the Pieris rapae does look pretty feeding on our lavender..<br /><a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/butterflies" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>butterflies</span></a> <a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/ButterflyConservation" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>ButterflyConservation</span></a> <a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/SaveButterflies" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>SaveButterflies</span></a> <a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/SmallWhite" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>SmallWhite</span></a> <a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/lavender" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>lavender</span></a> <a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/InMyGarden" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>InMyGarden</span></a> <a href="https://lingo.lol/tags/GayGardener" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>GayGardener</span></a></p>
