"Ancient Evening"
Evening light on the timeless sandstone banks, fossil reefs and mud hills of the Coyote Mountains Wilderness.
Another leftover from 2015 found in my archives, from a hike in April 2015.
Should've been part of this blog post all along! https://www.alex-kunz.com/domelands-east/ (where I've added it now)
Finding some nice photos in my archive that I should've included in older blog posts, but for whatever reason, didn't.
"Soft Colors in a Hard Landscape" from a hike in the Calcite Mine area of Anza Borrego Desert State Park, in January 2015... just 10 years ago... ouch!

Red diamond rattlesnake (Crotalus ruber), Lakeview Mountains, southern California. Yesterday, right next to the trail. This is why we don't look at our phones while hiking!

Chaparral yucca (Hesperoyucca whipplei), Lakeview Mountains, Southern California, yesterday.
Catching up with my backlog!
Today I have another entry for my "Desert Days" archive on my website, with 8 photos and a short time lapse video. And some decorative text around that.

For #WaterfallWednesday here's the "Devil's Jumpoff" waterfall near Ramona in San Diego County, California. It only runs when there's been enough rain and I made this photo after an atmospheric river storm came through, a couple of years ago.

For this #SilentSunday, the family escaped to #PineMountainClub for some outdoor time.
Between Tulare and Fresno. Migrants on the road. California. See general caption

For #MountainMonday here the view from San Diego's Cuyamaca Peak after sunset, and above the clouds.

This western bobcat (Lynx rufus fasciatus) came down from the hills about an hour ago to get a drink from our pool.
Was out hiking yesterday and today; am now feeling the "signature" tingling that is an early indicator of Poison-oak exposure...
Oh the joy of spring and hiking in Southern California: all clothes incl. jackets & shoes are going into the washer... emergency shower... wish me luck... (I've had the rash last year; it lasted for ~6 weeks)
Here's a photo of the villain in the story! Pretty, isn't it?
Please allow me to introduce myself. I'm Bob, an English computer programmer who has retired to #SouthernCalifornia to reinvent myself as an #artist. Well, a delusional #painter at least.
Here are are some (most) of my #paintings edited into frames in the Wallace collection to make them look a bit more important.
"A Land Untamed" from a desert hike ten years ago in February 2015, for #ThrowbackThursday
It's always a treat when cloud shadows dance on the desert landscape...

"Wild Green Yonder" for #ThickTrunkTuesday
The evergreen oaks of Southern California have been a favorite photography subject of mine for a long time. This beautiful specimen is a Coast Live Oak (Quercus agrifolia) at Hollenbeck Canyon near Jamul in San Diego County.
