Okay, I did write up a whole thing about the uptick in anti-Indian rhetoric among US-based white nationalists since JD Vance got the nomination. I think the writing isn't embarrassingly bad, but I might still be too sick to know (tho I am feeling a bit better today -- thanks to everyone who expressed concern!).
At any rate, Medium calls this a 7 minute read, so if you've got that, it'd be better to read the whole thing. If you don't, here's the highlights reel:
- JD Vance is married to the daughter of Indian immigrants.
- He even went to far as to produce babies with her, thereby tainting the purity of his own whiteness and that of his offspring in perpetuity.
- White nationalists like Nick Fuentes and Stew Peters are none too happy about this, and are now losing their petite minds over the "Indian takeover of American politics".
- This may be a passing thing, but it may not, and there's no reason to assume it couldn't progress from rhetoric to physical violence. (This is not to say that South Asian people aren't already subjected to violence in the US, but rather that this shift in rhetoric has the potential to augment it.)
- It is also an indication of the flimsiness of "model minority" status and the ease with which it can be revoked.
That's the gist, but there's obviously a lot more detail in the essay. Make of it what you will.
