DeadTOm :debian:<p>A reminder:</p><p>Red Boxes are still a thing.</p><p>Your local library probably has DVDs/Bluray discs to check out, and probably has a larger selection available through partner libraries if you're willing to wait a few days.</p><p>Services like Tubi already exist, totally free, if you don't mind advertising.</p><p>If you can't watch it any time you want, as many times as you want, you don't own it, and you can't count on it being there forever.</p><p><a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/StreamingWars" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>StreamingWars</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/AmazonPrime" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AmazonPrime</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/Netflix" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Netflix</span></a></p>
Badger AF (he/him) DEMOCRACY<p>OK, hear me out—my big idea for everyone getting what they want in the streaming wars:</p><p>My youngest wants to see The Lavender scare, but I don't feel like subscribing to yet another service and then remembering to cancel when the show was done. </p><p>Why not have the streaming services sell programs a la carte? Pay $10 and watch the show (and only that show) for it's run or season), commercial free. A streaming service can then throw in a bonus show if they want to win you over.</p><p><a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/StreamingWars" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>StreamingWars</span></a></p>

Elizabeth Tai | 戴秀铃 🇲🇾<p>When streaming services came out, I was happy to be rid of my Dvds. As a minimalist by nature I just didn't like things cluttering up my space. But now? I want them back, especially seeing how little control I have with keeping my favourite films and TV shows. I am kinda glad that I never got to getting rid of allll my favourite shows, but now I have to buy a region-free dvd player as they seem like a rare thing now lol. </p><p><a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/Tech" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Tech</span></a> <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/platforms" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>platforms</span></a> <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/StreamingWars" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>StreamingWars</span></a> <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/Streaming" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Streaming</span></a> </p><p><a href="https://www.dazeddigital.com/film-tv/article/56758/1/dvds-comeback-hbo-max-discover-plus-netflix" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">dazeddigital.com/film-tv/artic</span><span class="invisible">le/56758/1/dvds-comeback-hbo-max-discover-plus-netflix</span></a></p>

David August ❌👑<p>It's simple math: without writers, there's no content. Without content, there are no viewers.
