Symfony 2024 Year in Review (Symfony Blog)
Symfony 2024 Year in Review (Symfony Blog) #php #symfonyShould I go to the #phpuk Conference next month? I need some convincing that it would be worthwhile for me.
I could certainly do with the opportunity to 'network', since I am between jobs - and looking for one.
After a couple of hasty choices that didn't work out (usually no-framework - and not much of a quality codebase), I do need to be pickier about making a good choice - which right now includes modern Symfony & PHP (or at least a solid commitment to want to get there soon, if it is still an older version) and working remotely. And being valued for my skills.
The conference schedule sessions aren't overly interesting to me though - I've already seen talks or posts about most of the topics, so it's mostly going to be about the hallway-track.
On the other hand, it's £216 and I'm also trying to not spend too much money right now - although there various shopping carts that don't agree with that idea.
In the meantime - if you are looking for a senior #PHP & #Symfony developer in the UK (or close) - or know someone that is - I'd appreciate it if you let me know!
I'm a (back-end oriented) developer, specialising in #PHP & #Symfony - especially Code-quality/System-Optimisation, and I'm looking for a Tech-Lead/Staff-Engineer or Senior Developer role.
PHP has been my language of choice since 1999, with Symfony for the last 10 yrs. Writing quality, well structured new code, improving what is already there, and helping junior developers become great senior devs is what excites me the most.

Quick reminder that you can't use Symfony/uid when you are using UUID version 2.
You might want to use a package like ramsey/uuid, which implements the full spec instead.
The Sculpin project needs help to upgrade its internals to a newer version of Symfony, as well as to replace some unmaintained dependencies. Interested in lending a hand? Please reach out to @kboyd for more info. #php #symfony #symfonyFramework #sculpin #sculpinPHP
