It is indeed a book for these times as people around the world are driven from their homes, communities and lives due to war, #climateBreakdown, persecution, #poverty, #fascism, and any number of other factors that rip us from the places and people we love. I recently read Zerocalcare's #comic Kobane calling about the Kurdish situation in the #Syrian war. The author makes a comic similar to those made by Joe Sacco in #Palestine. It is a personal exercise of looking at a complex situation of a very mistreated ethnic group.
My question now is what will happen to all that has been achieved by the #Kurds in all this time. Both #rebels and pro #Erdogan forces do not seem to me to make the context any calmer.

I am old enough to remember the #Iranian #revolution The victory against the gruesome Shah regime and the SAVAK. And the disappointment when the Islamists won, the repression against the rest of the Revolutionaries...
I fear for the #Syrian people, and most certainly for the #Kurdish population, who always seem to get the short of the stick. But I still hope for the best. After all, this is an opportunity.
