The Yashica is all metal, all photographic seriousness, a close copy of the Rolleiflex Automat. The lenses are focused by moving the complete front, to maximise the image quality.

The Lubitel (russ. for amateur) is all plastic. Okay, the lenses are glass, but uncoated. Only the front elements focus, synchronised by simple gears.

Day 24: the first "proper" camera I ever used was a #TLR; I used to be more at home with 6x6 than anything. This year, I dusted off my old Yashicas and gave medium format a go for the first time in years (in part thanks to @tapasinthesun encouraging me to give "camera scanning" a go).

Not going to lie: this feels alien after a solid decade of 35mm rangefinder photography.

A bedraggled man sits on the bank of the Serpentine in Hyde Park, London; he's feeding swans, geese, and gulls from his lap, and is being absolutely smothered by birds as a result. My favourite part of this whole photo is the one goose that's stuck its blurry and out-of-focus head in the very bottom right of the frame just as I took it, the cheeky chap.
