#Target made its choice—and so have Black #consumers.
The #NationalBlackChurch Initiative isn’t playing PR games. No more performative marketing while treating Black communities like disposable income streams. I have nothing to do with this org, but it is telling.
@randahl For years Target had embraced diversity initiatives, which gave LGBTQ+ folk, people of color, and every marginalized community a safe place to shop. It was a viable alternative to places like Walmart. Now there is no discernible difference between Target and Walmart, except for higher prices at Target. Target has no reason to exist in the current market. #Target.
Swing and a miss. Target's reputation took a well-deserved hit because of their actions, which were rightfully perceived as shitty.

Bring back DEI and do not surrender to fascism again, and some day maybe all will be forgiven.
I just had a weird experience at Target—my girlfriend and I were bra shopping and this fucking sketchy crew-cut white guy in jeans and a kinda well-worn—not quite clean—white undershirt is keeping an eye on us and another woman. Then he speaks into a hidden collar mic. I couldn't quite hear him, but it sounded like he was talking about a woman.
Then, as we were checking out, he was over by the restrooms—still looking sketchy as fuck—and watching people (including us). Then I caught him following us out, but he turned around and went back in after a few feet.
We got back to the car and I told my partner my observations. I thought he might be private security...or some conservative transvestigator fucker—it really could have been either (or both) with the way he was acting.
We decided to go back in to make sure he wasn't hassling anyone. Sure enough, he was still looking sketchy AF and following people around the women's section and towards the exit. So we reported him. The lady who worked there told us he's their security, and that she'd let him know we said he should be less fucking sketchy.
If you're a Target shareholder, you can now vote against an anti-DEI proposal, "Shareholder proposal requesting a report on how affirmative action initiatives impact Target’s risks related to actual and perceived discrimination." You can vote through June 10.

Dollars vote. Be careful who you support. The NAACP has long used boycotts, and they have a short list to avoid now due to rollback of DEI. Let's all work together, ok?
