@Sheril The problem is much older (and not just an US thing). Since Zuckerberg bought Insta, since the influencer/selfie phenomenon, we had a problem of growing eating disorders, disturbances in self-perception, exploding cosmetic surgery for girls, fat-shaming, etc.
Does anyone remember the film The Social Network (2010) showing the horribly #misogynistic #Zuckerberg + #TechBros? Now it's paired with fascist #TESCREAL ideologies.
They have always worked against girls and #women.

Attention server admins! Yesterday I've read a post by @simon_brooke how nasty AI scraper bots are attacking his self-hosted @forgejo instance. Soon after I'm seeing unusual, periodic traffic spikes on mine and again - dominated by OpenAI, but some other freeloaders too:

They've been hammering my little server periodically today as well, slowing down my instance dramatically as if I was experiencing malicious DDoS attack :blobcatfearful: Well, in a sense it is one :blobcatnotlikethis:

Watch out - it seems corporate AI techbros learned to scrape :forgejo: content and starts doing it on a massive scale :blobcatoutage: Remember when @Codeberg was (and repeatedly is) hit?

For now blocked IP ranges and User-Agent combinations, not sure for how long that will be enough :blobcatumm:

Knowing what we know about #consciousness including all theoretical constructs that have ever been theorised by scientists, philosophers and some of the greatest thinkers since history was written down, General Artificial Intelligence (#AI) is and can become as ‘conscious’ as the amount of mineral material it takes to build it. Period. Anyone who says otherwise has more than 4,000 years of reseach and human reasoning to overcome. And… good luck with that #TechBros.
