#Meta to lay off 5% of workforce, about 3000 people.

Side note: Please don’t believe a company when it cites “low performers” when it’s laying off hundreds or thousands of people. These companies start with a target head count, then work backward to figure out who to lay off. When a department gets notice about their new head count target, they *have* to lay off some number of people, many of whom are *not* poor performers. Citing “low performance” is a way to shift responsibility from poor management (or often, simple greed) to the workers, who are often victims.

Not surprised to see this in any way at all. While I feel sorry for those that got laid off, Mozilla has become a shady, shitty company in so many ways.

Welcome to the real world @tinker. No seriously!

Did you expect anything different than what happened to... lets say the Rust Belt industrial workers, or agriculture? All shipped offshore to keep PROFITS FOR THEMSELVES UP, by keeping operating costs, including wages, down.

Did you think you and your 'trade' were special? Really.

Ps. #AI will take all the #techindustry jobs first. 🤣 #KillCapitalism. #EatTheRich and anyone who wants to be like them too, and #TechLayoffs #ProblemSolved 😁

“From an H.R. standpoint, this is a nightmare. It completely reverses their image as a desirable employer.”

Job cuts, which could continue throughout the year, have created a glum mood at what was arguably Silicon Valley’s most exuberant workplace.

#Twitter #TechLayoffs

Media that continues to put out pieces like this arguing that while Twitter laid off most of its employees, everything is fine even with *revenue itself being down 40% and the valuation being down 55%*, is why *context is important*. Rocket guy has set billions on fire, and yet this article is fawning over how "tech layoffs, while not all the same, are not that big a deal" with the now, vacuous nod to how AI is going to "take ALL the jobs" in the piece 🙄

To prevent the spread of Tech Layoffs (LOVID-22), see the following recommendations from the CDC (Capitalism Deterrent Coalition):

• Stay up to date with your labor rights
• Seek treatment if you aren't in a union
• Remind your executives to stay home if they have suspected or confirmed LOVID-22
• Protect your executives by preparing outdoor events

Remember that the best protection against LOVID-19 comes from sharing information and resources through a worker union.
