Hey Mastodon, I made you a TUI. works in #linux and show images, navigate to links, search, and more stuff I'll eventually add down the line. I built this after the other two TUIs I found were either orphaned or just really behind on updates. pretty simple build that I've been working on when taking breaks from building my WM in the past week or so.

I’ve been playing around with this and I can’t tell you how much I love this cli interface. It’s much easier for me, now, to edit and create new newsletters/emails. I’m super glad this newsletter platform offers this! it’s a lot cleaner, for me, than the web interface. As of right now, there’s a few bugs, but it still works well and i’ve already started contributing to the documentation! Providing some more notes for Windows users and explaining a few things that’s not in the original documentation. Is there system information tool for linux that prints something like this on one line in terminal when run:

CPU: 40% | GPU: 20% | RAM: 12/16

Fastfetch does not support this kind of thing, it only has everything per line.

I want specifically everything on one line

I had the honour to be invited by @ZFAVClub to participate in an online live workshop exploring the mighty and wonderful CLI tool of the @internetarchive, in collaboration with @dweb 💕

If you are interested in data preservation and digital commons, please do watch it, as we did our best to shed some light on the most powerful yet little known features of this software.

The #InternetArchive is an invaluable resource for unlimited, public, open, and free storage for the whole Universe. It seems too good to be true, but it is!

We also touched upon the value of #FreeSoftware, #Linux, #decentralization, and #publicDomain.

Anyone can recommend forgotten books about designing and programming text user interfaces (TUI) for consoles/terminals, also known as screen design back in the 80s?

*Not* curses or using existing libraries, but more like relying directly on ANSI/VT100 control sequences. And *no*, I'm not asking for a list of escape sequences :)

The kind of material I'm thinking of is something close to the 1989 "Programming the User Interface: Principles and Examples" by Judith R. Brown and Steve Cunningham. But focused on TUI exclusively. The more (pseudo-)code, the better.

⚡ Use the Internet Archive like a Hacker-Librarian! 🔮

Join a hands-on workshop where we’ll demystify the CLI and turn it into your super power for archiving, accessing, and uploading content to the @internetarchive.

Hosted by the @ZFAVClub, with the participation of @tommi, we’ll learn and share our experience using the awesome ia #CLI tool!

This is rad. It’s a queer digital zine called New Session that’s published via Telnet.

Co-founder/editor Cara Esten Hurtle notes:

“The project isn’t just retro novelty—it’s a radical rejection of the addictive social media and algorithmic attention-mining that have defined the modern day internet.”
