of course, you can pick locrian (the "darkest" mode) or lydian (the "brightest" mode) and use those as a reference, too. for example, six sharps starting from locrian can get you to lydian through all the other modes (5, 2, 6, 3, 7, 4) and similarly, six flats can get you from lydian to locrian through all other modes (4, 7, 3, 6, 2, 5), with Dorian in the center. so the symmetry of the Dorian mode occurs not only in its intervals but also in its modal relationships #theory #music #musicTheory

Do you know of any self-organized, bottom-up, locally-rooted educational organizations?

I am asking this because I am talking intensely with @ceci about ideas and dreams we have for our home city, #Sanremo, Italy.

We are both coming to the conclusion that an autonomous, independent, cooperative, critical, and deeply rooted university is one of the very very few projects that could give young people in the area a real chance not to emigrate.

As we are also both deeply in love with fringe academia, it would also be the only reason for us to somehow maintain a bond with our homeland.

Please, boost and share this, and send us any kind of suggestions! We particularly welcome Italian initiatives.

A #Theory in #Science MUST be falsifiable aka it must be possible to proof it's wrong, if it's wrong. So every #Scientist has to live with being wrong. To be slightly less wrong than the ones before you is a big achievement - not only in science, but everywhere in life, actually.

What we call "being right" normally also just means "being slightly less wrong". Keep that in your mind. Always. Everywhere.

Elon Musk Finally Admits Social Security Is on the Chopping Block

The richest man in the world is trying to convince the American people that they all deserve less.
In an interview with Fox News on Monday,

Elon Musk spread debunked lies about Social Security and Medicare to justify eliminating them.

“The waste and fraud in entitlement spending … that’s the big one to eliminate, that’s the sort of half trillion, maybe six or seven hundred billion a year,” Musk said.

“That is also a mechanism by which the Democrats attract and retain illegal immigrants, by essentially paying them to come here, and they’re turning them into voters. This is why the Democrats are so upset about the situation,”
he added, unsubtly echoing a white nationalist, #Great #Replacement #theory talking point while #Larry #Kudlow nodded along.

“If we turn off this gigantic money magnet for illegal immigrants, then they will leave. And they will lose voters.”

👉Trump has said he won’t touch Social Security or Medicare, but Musk’s entitlement math makes it clear that both those programs, as well as Medicaid, are on the chopping block.

Millions of older Americans—many of them red-state Republicans—will lose the vital benefits they rely on.
And the millions of younger Americans who’ve been having those benefits taken out of their paychecks for years will never see the fruits of that.

Musk’s lies continued:

“Why are there 20 million people who are definitely dead marked as alive in the Social Security database?” he asked.

“Why were hundreds of millions of dollars of Small Business Administration loans given out to people aged 11 and under? We have an enormous number of people marked alive who are 160.”

“The reported data are people in our records with a Social Security number who do not have a date of death associated with their record. These individuals are not necessarily receiving benefits,”

One thing I've been thinking about lately is Hal Draper's concept of the political center. I want to start printing out short Marxist texts to share with others locally for free. It seems like most Marxist sects sell their pamphlets and newspapers, while anarchists give out zines for free.

Maybe a small press like this could begin giving out pamphlets, and eventually start a newspaper which can cover current events and publish new theory.

the book that catapulted the ideas of #Modern #Monetary #Theory into the mainstream.

Much of Kelton’s career has been spent on dismantling the intellectual underpinnings of the idea that the government cannot afford to help us all.
