Cellon. The oak's circumference is 30 feet, it is 85 feet tall and its crown spread is 160 feet."It has an 80 foot horizontal "spider" trunk that lays on the ground creating a natural pergola. There's even a picnic table amidst the branches! (not shown) In the past dozen years or so this amazing limb was cracked (over my shoulder to the left in photo) and is now supported by large poles. The oldest grove of metasequoia were planted here around 1950. The trunks get massive, resembling a bald cypress, minus the knuckles. Dawn redwoods do not have knuckle-like root protrusions surrounding their base.
