Just donated to #thunderbird for the first time, prompted by their email campaign.
Huge progress last year. Was fascinating to see a talk by the design team at #fosdem this year.
Keep up the great work team, we're relying on you!
@hehemrin Looks nice, but...
- Will it be hosted in the USA?
- Will there be 2FA for checking the mail?
The way things are going I don't want my private stuff in the USA, neither do I want my mail to be accessible with a simple password, which is the way IMAP still works. So I'll most probably stick with @Tutanota
Our team explains Thundermail and Thunderbird Pro
(what are they? why develop them?), the values behind them, and why the core desktop and mobile apps will never be behind a paywall. Read more and get the facts beneath the hype: https://blog.thunderbird.net/2025/04/thundermail-and-thunderbird-pro-services/
Just supported #Thunderbird with a donation. If you can afford it, please consider supporting #FOSS, too. A small and simple step to independence from Trump and his tech flunkies.
#Firefox + #Thunderbird + #Libreoffice
Eine OfficeSuite, die der von MS IMHO überlegen ist. Nicht billiger, wenn man regelmäßig spendet, aber besser. Nutze ich privat und beruflich (internationale Kunden) seit vielen Jahren.
except for the AI shit that I don't know why Mozilla-affiliated services are pushing through, from the Thunderbird perspective I'd say this announcement is the most coherent and hopeful that has been produced for several years related to Mozilla products https://thunderbird.topicbox.com/groups/planning/T437cd854afcb1395/thundermail-and-thunderbird-pro-services
however if it means they'll essentially lock out people from using Thunderbird with their emails from other services, it's completely unnecessary and shortsighted
@thunderbird@mastodon.online @thunderbird@tilvids.com Question about the #CardsView for email pls. For many years i have exclusively used the table / multi-column view, as i can see much more info [eg, folder, tags, sent date, received date, sender, receiver etc]. Recently i changed to the Card View, & am trying to like it, but i really miss now not seeing at a glance the folder. Is CV editable somewhere so i can fine tune what parameters i see?
LOL This is funny to see to be honest. As much as I hate to say it, WAY TOO LATE!
Thunderbird email is going pro to better compete with Gmail.

Mozilla Thunderbird Challenges Gmail With Its Own Email Service
Mozilla Thunderbird Challenges Gmail With Its Own Email... #Thunderbird, #technology #Thunderbird@thunderbird is this known issue with the rebranded #K9?
I composed a message while out and about, but the message didn't send because my mobile provider has ended up on #Spamhaus #XBL. The message sits in the #Thunderbird Outbox.
On getting home to my WiFi network (whose internet connectivity is provided by an entity which is not my mobile provider) and attempting to resend the message in the Outbox, the message still fails to send, with the same error. However any email composed and sent while on my home network is sent reliably.
What's going on there?
The bird is out of the bag! We're introducing Thunderbird Pro (you already know Appointment!), a set of productivity AND privacy boosting services. And that includes...*drum roll*...an email service we're calling Thundermail. Find all the info in this excellent article:
Finally! Mozilla Thunderbird challenges Gmail with its own email service. And that's just the beginning...

#Evolution for #windows .... is that an actual thing?
Would like to have an alternative to #outlook that can handle #owa with #exchange right out of the box.
#Thunderbird cannot handle Exchange, you need a (paid) plugin 4 this.
Any tips?
