I also do a little bit of sewing to assemble stuff I knit or repair things. My great aunt taught me the basics of knitting and I learned the rest thanks to the internets.</p><p><a href="https://pouet.chapril.org/tags/ToolTuesday" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ToolTuesday</span></a><br>I do stuff by hand so my tools are whatever needles I recupered from family, thrift store or buyed in shops.<br>I would like to learn to use a sewing machine one day though.</p>
Lost (she/they)<p>For <a href="https://cutie.city/tags/FiberArtCamp" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FiberArtCamp</span></a> <a href="https://cutie.city/tags/ToolTuesday" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ToolTuesday</span></a>, I’d actually love opinions on which <a href="https://cutie.city/tags/InterchangeableNeedles" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>InterchangeableNeedles</span></a> people prefer for <a href="https://cutie.city/tags/knitting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>knitting</span></a>. I finally feel comfortable investing in a set after using my grandmother’s plastic needles for decades. The plastic needles definitely work, but I’ve since upgraded some circulars to Addi needles, which are so much better for me. Everyone loves Chiaogoo, but I really can’t use sharp needles as I’ll poke a hole through my right index finger. I’ve been told by various yarn shops in Europe that Knitter’s Pride (US) / Knit Pro (EU) are extremely popular in Europe, so that adds another contender into the ring. I never knit below fingering weight yarn, and I’ve been on a garment kick lately, so I don’t need sets that are optimized for tiny, lace knitting. <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://a.gup.pe/u/knitting" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>knitting</span></a></span></p>

I have been learning how to scour, dye, prepare, spin for about 10 years now. </p><p>Unfortunately i had to downsize when we moved so i gifted all my fiber arts stuff to a good friend. </p><p>My favorite tools were my hand carders. I just found carding soo soothing. rolling the rolags off of them was also satisfying AF. <a href="https://tenforward.social/tags/ToolTuesday" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ToolTuesday</span></a></p><p>Nice to meet y’all</p>
Naomi P<p>I tend not to have favorites of anything. I like most knitting needles (except plastic ones). A good pair of fabric shears is essential. My Clover seam ripper.</p><p>But I think the tool I’m happiest to own is a “rug loom” My g-grandmother took plans for this to the smith, and he made two for her. (Brazed, I think.)</p><p>It’s called a “rug loom” though no weaving is involved. It holds string under tension. Little rag strips are knotted onto the string to make shag.</p><p><a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/FiberArtCamp" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FiberArtCamp</span></a> <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/ToolTuesday" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ToolTuesday</span></a></p>

I've been <a href="https://vis.social/tags/quilting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>quilting</span></a> for over 20 years at this point, but didn't really start focusing and playing with it until 2012. I'm inspired by science and nature and have made both wall art and practical quilts. Oh, and bags.</p><p>Favorite tool(s): design wall, Janome sewing machine, rotary cutter, and Omnigrid ruler (no affiliation with any companies). </p><p>I post lots of WIP pictures and thoughts about the process. </p><p>I also do crossfit and watch tv :D</p>
ink and yarn<p>The second day of <a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/FiberArtCamp" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FiberArtCamp</span></a> is <a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/ToolTuesday" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ToolTuesday</span></a> :)</p><p>I genuinely don't know if I could pick my favourite, so instead I'll talk about the newest facet of my fibre art hobby: machine knitting. </p><p>What a rabbit hole, man. My friend gave me a simple Brother bulky machine, and the next thing you know I've got a standard gauge electronic machine and a ribber, and someone nearby was selling a punchcard machine and a garter carriage for a stupidly low price, and and and. </p><p>There's a huge learning curve, of course, but the speed is enthralling. I made a blanket/wrap in a couple of days, rather than several months. (Still working on perfecting a sweater pattern that fits me the way I want, though.)</p><p><a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/KnittingMachine" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>KnittingMachine</span></a> <a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/MachineKnitting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MachineKnitting</span></a> <a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/KnittingPirate" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>KnittingPirate</span></a> <a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/knitting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>knitting</span></a></p>
Sheepnik<p><a href="https://toot.wales/tags/FiberArtCamp" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FiberArtCamp</span></a> <br><a href="https://toot.wales/tags/ToolTuesday" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ToolTuesday</span></a></p><p>The prompt for today's Fiber Art Camp is about your favourite tool. I could pick one of my spinning wheels, because they're pretty cool and not what people think of when them think of spinning wheels, or my various sets of needles, but I think the thing I like best and use the most is my yarn holders from Hansen Crafts. They're nice and solid, well-designed (the shaft fits in the base when not in use) and stop my yarn from rolling all over the place. Super useful.</p>
