Au pied de l’ancien palais épiscopal de la Berbie à Albi (XIIIe siècle), plutôt massif, s’étend un jardin à la française (du XVIIe) nettement plus délicat. C’est d’ailleurs un curieux aménagement paysager, avec des topiaires sophistiqués dessinant sur du gravier blanc des motifs qui frisent le labyrinthe (gardener for scale, on ne risque toutefois pas de s’y perdre). Il est classé “jardin remarquable”, ehui. Mars 2022.

Vue en contre plongée d’une construction ancienne en brique rose massive rappelant un peu une forteresse du Moyen-Âge. Au pied de celle-ci, des buis taillés avec art dessinent des motifs sophistiqués.

Please enjoy this ancient #yew tree, which has been shaped by many generations of #topiary artists over 200+ years into the form of a perfect cone. Yews grow very slowly. So (to me) this is an awe inspiring achievement.

Inside the portal, visitors are invited by a small sign on a bench under the deep shade of the tree's canopy to "Take a Seat". Perfect in case you would like to get away from it all for a while. I recommend it!

A large English yew tree (Taxum baccata) approximately 30 feet (9m) in height, with a broad base about 20 feet (6m) in diameter. The tree is shaped by topiary into the form of a perfect cone, which appears to be resting directly on the ground. A pathway leads up to a portal in the base of the tree and provides an entryway of sorts into what viewers can guess is the space under the tree's canopy. The tree is situated on manicured lawns, with a high topiary hedge, also in yew, behind the tree, and extending off hundreds of feet into the far distance to the left. A few other distant trees including a copper beech are visible far away behind the hedge. It is a lovely sunny day, with a few scudding grey and white clouds in an otherwise blue sky. The location of the yew tree is in the gardens of Antony House, near Torpoint, Cornwall (UK).

For a while, I’ve been beta testing an #iOS app called #Topiary. It’s a helpful tool that lets you view and manage following relationships in Mastodon.
You can change the view so you see only people you’re following but are not following you, people who follow you but who you’re not following, and mutuals.
#VoiceOver #accessibility is quite good. For example, when viewing people who follow you but you’re not following, the Actions Rotor is implemented so you can swipe down to follow, and double-tap.
What would be nice is if VoiceOver could speak the bio field for each profile without having to double-tap the name of each person. But it’s a very handy tool. Here’s the App Store link.
