If you're trans, we're fighting ancient bigotry, but homosexuality was illegal, yet now equal in law & life.
It may get worse, but great strides in gay rights made it easier & great strides will be made in trans rights...
When cis & trans folk will live & love with liberty & equality...
When trans & gay are accepted equally...
When trans & gay are equals in LGBTQ community...
When we've proportional representation in every legislature.
The UK’s first transgender judge has launched a case against the UK in the European court of human rights challenging the process that led to the supreme court’s ruling on biological sex.
Victoria McCloud says the UK's supreme court undermined her rights to a fair trial when it refused to hear her evidence.
Ultimately, this could lead to those harridans having their decision overturned
Hola chikis!
Si te interesa participar o ayudar comenta y hablamos!
"Gone girl", but it's about someone becoming the girl they always were always meant to be.
TransActual's staff and directors were happy to be together in person this weekend talking about the past year-what went well and what we learned. We're also looking forward to the next 12 months- the work ahead as well as our expansion!
While 'minority' may often be an accurate word when describing the demographics harmed by systematic bigotry, it is often more meaningful to use language that highlights that people with social/political power are purposefully choosing to say/do things and set up systems that harm that demographic.
When we focus on groups being minorities many people (subconsciously or consciously) start to think of systematic bigotry as a natural status quo for any small group.
The two words I personally feel are the most productive and impactful to use are:
marginalized (defined by Merriam-Webster dictionary as “to relegate to an unimportant or powerless position within a society or group”’)
and
disenfranchised (defined by Merriam-Webster dictionary as “deprived of some right, privilege, or immunity”)
I say this all as a member of many demographics that are minorities, but more importantly that are being actively and purposefully marginalized and disenfranchised by people who want us to not have any social or political power.
The language we use has the power to highlight the reality of bigoted choices being made, or to inadvertently downplay it and allow people to just accept it as an unavoidable part of society.
We need to be purposeful about the words we choose when explaining harms down to our communities (the people with power trying to keep us down sure as hell are)!

RIP Terence Stamp.
A remarkable body of work, well beyond Superman.
He was the kind of actor that would make you sit through a movie just to see him in a 1-minute scene.
Yes, I'm thinking of "The Company of the Wolves" where he plays -uncredited- the Devil.
