Oh shit, Kirby's being attacked by a D20. Roll it for initiative! A bit beholdereqsue too as all its eyes contribute to doing all of Kirby's abilities. What a weird.. coincidence... hmmmmmm.

I've spent a lot of time in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes planning out my next move on the map screen, partially trying to remember what features aren't shown on it which would let me use/still prevent my use of new power-ups, but partially for the music. Current creepiest is the subterranean Dark Torvus theme. The submerged portion of Torvus already took the red soil Brinstar theme from Super Metroid, but it's barely recognizable here as you're stuck in caverns which are completely separate from the rest of the game's world.
I know this is one hell of a late #VGMWednesday post, but since today is Genealogy of the Holy War's anniversary, I thought a tribute to the music from my favorite #FireEmblem would only be appropriate.
I've decided on the Chapter 7 theme from the Arranged #Soundtrack - it's one of my faves from the album, in no small part because it's so atmospheric. It literally screams "desert" in your face!

#VGMWednesday There are intense heat readings behind this music. You've entered Magmoor Caverns and as you may know, Nintendo musicians use sufficiently hot beats for sufficiently hot areas such as Super Metroid's Lower Norfair.
I just like this more pronounced, orchestrated yet weirdly laid back version.
Please keep your arms in legs inside the volcano at all times and watch out for flying purple pterodactyl sociopaths named after legendary British directors.
I like this track. It's cinematic, it has an incredible vibe, and the bass is delicious~

Randomly the Killing Floor soundtrack popped into my head yesterday. I'm not that into hard rock/metal but this soundtrack really fit the vibe of the game and got me into a specific headspace.
I played a ton of this game in high school, Sharpshooter for life!
So, I have hit the end of the Super Star Wars Trilogy, with a track from Super Return of the Jedi. For #VGMWednesday I wanted to pick something that included a track that used some of my favourite Star Wars music of all time. Unbeknownst to me, they use it in the first stage! That's a little premature Star Wars, but I forgive you because Return of the Jedi is a great game.
『Speeder Chase』is the track for the first stage and takes from the first part of Battle of Endor on the original OST, and I love the Battle of Endor, everything about that space battle is just peak Star Wars for me and cannot be topped.

Honestly, my main takeaway from the Super Star Wars Trilogy is that they had some wizards working on these games, I have nothing but gushy praise for these three games, even if Empire does like to shove you in a dark alley and rough you up every chance it gets.
For #vgmwednesday here is the OST from the GBC shooter Project S-11.
Project S-11 is a marvel techically and aesthetically. It is beautiful and runs without slowdown. The music does a fantastic job of keeping the spirit of contemporary EDM within the limitations of the Game Boys limited channels. It's a game that should absolutely be played with headphones to enjoy the stereo goodness. #GameBoy
After playing @th3_archivist's pick for VGM Wednesday, I found that the same channel has also done a sick remake of Sonic 3 & Knuckles' Flying Battery Zone track.
So, that's my entry for today.

For #vgmwednesday here is the startup music for the original #GameBoy (and Gameboy Color).
I know it's weird to thing of as music, but it's two C's an octave apart. Many consoles have startup jingles, but I think the simple, quick one used by the #GB is the most effective. It's almost triggering, flipping a switch in your brain from whatever mode you are in to return to whatever phase in life you where in when you first played a Game Boy.
Is also showcases one of the selling points of the Game Boy--stereo headphone audio! (The two notes are played in different ears)
#vgmwednesday technically it's a fan-made remake but it's so crisp and clear it feels like an HD version of the original! from #sonic spinball #sonicthehedgehog
For this #vgmwednesday, here’s an awesome remix of the castle theme from #YoshisIsland meant for #SuperMarioWorld hacks.
God the SNES can handle such great music…
I started Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name recently and just met Akame.
As soon as I opened the menu to talk to her this song came on and I said, "Well there's #VGMWednesday sorted"
Really digging the crispy synthy tracks in the latest RGG games.
It helps that Akame seems like a badass so far
Since April 20th was not only the 35th anniversary of the #FireEmblem series, but also the 20th anniversary of FE: Path of Radiance, I found myself thinking back to this wonderful game again. In honor of this occasion, let me share an absolute gem from PoR's #soundtrack for #VGMWednesday: Life Returns!
Also known as the Galdr of Rebirth, it plays during the credits as well - and you can just picture the herons singing this ethereal, hauntingly beautiful song!

As divisive as Mega Man 8 is, you can't deny that the OST is awesome. One track that really stands out is the Japanese opening theme. Every time I listen to this song; I always get excited for the awaiting adventure. The song's upbeat tone, paired with the animated intro's call-backs to previous entries, makes MM8 feel like one massive series finale. Since it's #VGMWednesday I thought it'd be neat for y'all to hear something exclusive to another region.
I'm picking "Frozen Light," the first #FinalFantasyVI arrangement posted for the year to #OCReMix. "Another World of Beasts" is a favorite of mine from that game and this slower tempo version adds some weight to it.
#VGMWednesday in the pursuit of greed we have given up everything. If your mind is not sheared or assassinated by now then you may be invited to an outer space tournament where you can win LOTS OF PRIZES!
Watch out for your opponents from behind with the A.S.S. Cam!
Play as a mutant, a cyborg, a um dominatrix, a reptile or the inexplicable COWMAN.
Get your money's worth in baubles ripe for any kleptomaniac to acquire, with various rarities and some just appearing at random so you'll constantly be scouring the map so you can finally escape. I'd buy that for a dollar! (Except you can get it for FREE from Red Shadow Software)
Attached is the first level music. Enjoy. Thank you very much Andrew Gregory Sega!
So, considering I have been playing Radia Senki recently, a JRPG, I think it is a foregone conclusion on what music I will pick from this game for #VGMWednesday
If you took the punt and said the 『Battle Theme』you're absolutely right. If you play this game, you will be hearing this track A LOT. The encounter rate in this game can vary from a full length of a corridor to you raised your pinkie finger. At least the battles are relatively engaging with the real time combat, maybe I should say forcibly engaging
But this isn't the venue for discussing gameplay! Back to the music.

Is it as good as the Final Fantasy battle theme... No. But it is still an appropriately energetic piece. I encourage people to check out other parts of the OST as it is. By and large, it's a pretty decent soundtrack.
For #vgmwednesday here is the OST from the #PlayDate season 1 #CasualBirder composed by Maxo.
While I currently priced out of getting a playdate, I was looking into it's sound capabilities and it is pretty robust. These tracks so a fantastic job of using sound samples that are invokative of bird calls. In the PlayDate pod cast, the composer said this was an intentional decision to add a bit of audio world building.
It sits somewhere in the Animal Crossing vibes, but with a jazzy complexity that is it's own thing. And he bird bits are a neat touch. Scream Bloody Birder is especially catchy with that slappy saw bass line.
