A few wild flowers I saw on my trip to the coast yesterday. It was a lovely stroll in the dunes in sunny Aberdeenshire.

I'm a bit late for #WildFlowerHour this week but better late than never

Meadow Saxifrage - These white flowers really catch the eye.
Common Stork's-bill - First of the year for me, lovely flower.
Spring Vetch - So happy to find these, very tiny!
Sea Campion - Lovely in the evening sun.

Spring Vetch - this one is a proper eye sight test. Tiny pink flower is mms not cms. Made my day finding them.

Along with thrift, the white flowers of sea campion are always lovely to see at the sea.

We went bird-watching at College Lake #BBOWT #WildlifeTrust reserve this morning and found some decent wildflowers while we were there. These are Common Dog-violet and Common Vetch. #WildflowerHour #Buckinghamshire #Bloomscrolling #botany #plants #flowers #wildflowers #photography

Some plants from around #Wendover this weekend. Hairy Bittercress from my mother's garden path, Shining Cranesbill and Cowslip from a road verge and Yellow Corydalis from the shared church building that's either St Anne's RC church or Wendover Free Church depending on the time of day.

A meadow bistort (Bistorta officinalis). Whether a survivor or a very welcome arrival is not clear. It is at the edge of an area which is flooded by the river.

Large leaves, similar to dock but smoother and with a blue cast. A few sticks of candy pink flowers are visible, looking from a distance like orchids

Eine kleine Wildpflanze, die aus dem Spalt einer Trockenmauer mit langen, schmalen, hellbraun- rötlichen Stängeln herausrankt. Die daran wachsenden Blätter sind klein, leuchtend grün und kleeblattförmig, aber viel runder, die Blüten sind ebenfalls klein und violett rosa mit einer zart- gelben Mitte.

A small wild plant that grows out of the crevice of a dry stone wall with long, narrow, light brown-reddish stems. The leaves growing on it are small, bright green and clover-shaped, but much rounder, the flowers are also small and purplish pink with a pale yellow centre.

Die gleiche Wildblume an der grau-braunen Trockenmauer, aber hier ist die Form der Blüte besser zu sehen. Sie besteht aus 5 Blütenblättern, von denen drei hellviolette am unteren Rand und zwei etwas kräftiger pinkfarbene oberhalb der Mitte (ein bisschen wie zwei Hasenohren) wachsen. Die Mitte selbst besteht aus jeweils zwei nebeneinander liegenden ovalen gelb-weißlichen Erhebungen.

The same wildflower on the grey-brown dry stone wall, but here the shape of the flower is easier to see. It consists of 5 petals, three of which are light purple at the lower edge and two of which are a somewhat stronger pink colour above the centre (a bit like two rabbit ears). The centre itself consists of two oval yellow-white bumps lying next to each other.

#FirstFlowers of the year have arrived: Aspens Populus tremuloides are starting to fully open their catkins (willows are just behind, first few open). They may be tiny, but there are millions! Officially wind pollinated, but they do draw insects.

Looking up at a strip of mixed woods, with many aspens in front. The pale trunks and branches of the aspens, shaded dark in places and with dark markings, bear masses of silvery fuzzy catkins at their twig tips, with darker mixed woods behind and blue sky above and to the left.

Those hanging in front in this view are fully extended and wind blown slightly sideways; they adorn a branch going from left to right making a band of catkins across the centre. above and below, other branches are a bit farther back with more blue sky showing.

A shadowed knobby twig rises in the centre, with numerous dangling catkins in various stages. Emerging from shiny brown bud cases, they start as silver brushes, extending to silver/pewter dangling caterpillars with red buds showing through the hairs, then extending further and paling as the reddish tiny buds open to show miniscule golden flowers casting their pollen to wind. Tangled pale branches in the background allow glimpses of the blue sky beyond.

Two pink flowers with 5 petals each. The flowers are almost, but not quite, symmetrical in a way that somehow manages to be slightly annoying if you have that sort of a mind-set.
