Steph (they/them)<p>My partner asked me yesterday "if you were offered a million quid advance but you had to make your MC straight, would you do it?"</p><p>And... that's a trick question. Because no, I wouldn't, and my partner knew I wouldn't. There's no amount you could offer me to betray my principles like that... at this moment in time.</p><p>Because right now, I don't have to worry about money, do I? Even with me unemployed we manage comfortably enough. If we were poor and struggling, would I?</p><p>I wouldn't judge anyone for doing what they needed to do if it meant escaping poverty. Sometimes I can sneak in some writing in the afternoons as well, if I'm lucky. I've become a creature of habit when and where it concerns my writing. ItsCarryl<p>Realised I didn’t answer that dialogue qu directly at first, so posting my thoughts here.</p><p>I like to make it snappy for a while and let them expand some too. I’ve also recently had them sighing and frowning, trying to reduce how often they do them, and ending up with more as I try to reduce one by replacing it with the other. RationizedInsanity<p>Being homeless was better than living in the house I grew up.</p><p>I was free, and roamed the world as I saw fit, and most shelters were cleaner. You have no idea how sad of a statement that is if you've never been.</p><p>I was alone mostly as a child, and covered in fleas, and lived in filth. I couldn't leave either, and just had to suffer. When writing dialogue do I include everything from “hello” to “goodbye” or stick to what’s essential?</p><p>One for the writers here … I certainly don’t *not* put the niceties of conversation in; sometimes it’s the mundanity of communication that tells more of the story.
