Ana Tudor 🐯<p>Stupid <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/a11y" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>a11y</span></a> question: do you have examples of accessible interactive code?</p><p>What I mean: in order to better illustrate what a piece of code does, clicking certain values opens up a popup that allows changing those values while the result updates in real time. Something like this thing I made almost a decade ago, except I'd like to do it better now. <a href="https://cdpn.io/pen/debug/gvjZGe" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">cdpn.io/pen/debug/gvjZGe</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/code" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>code</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/coding" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>coding</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/frontend" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>frontend</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/accessibility" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>accessibility</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/web" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>web</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/dev" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>dev</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/webDev" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>webDev</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/webDevelopment" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>webDevelopment</span></a></p>
Jessica the VI Artist🎚️🎹🌈<p>The <a href="https://kind.social/tags/moog" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>moog</span></a> matriarch has small white dots marking the position of the knobs. These are not distinguishable by touch. So, I had a friend add small lines in gray puff paint, including small dots at the top of each knob. Now that the paint is good and dry, it is slightly raised, so I can finally tweak by touch without using my magnifier! I feel like some people might think this looks bad, but oh well. Leif Samuelsson<p>Att översätta det engelska begreppet accessibility till tillgänglighet är slarvigt. Det kan ju också betyda availability. Datorn är tillgänglig (i affären). Kan vi inte bättre? Jenny :TransButterfly: :3hearts:<p>Every time I see someone post "ay one one why¹" instead of "accessibility," I boost the post instead of jumping into their mentions to call them an asshole.</p><p>And the term is inaccessible to more than just screen reader users, but I think it's illustrative of <em>why</em> I genuinely think you're being an asshole when you use it, especially as an inline hashtag. Read your post out loud and when you get to that part, say "pound sign ay one one why" or, if the screen reader is being maximally autistic-literal, "octothorpe ay one one why." Maybe "hash tag ay one one why" if it's context-aware. Just rolls off the tongue, don't it? Read <em>this</em> post out loud, as a native English speaker, and tell me how accessible it is that I'm phonetically rendering "ay one one why." Has it gotten annoying yet? Have you noticed that "accessibility" has two more syllables than "ay one one why" but somehow takes longer to say?</p><p>Don't be an asshole and just spell the damn word. </p><p>¹ IPA: /eɪ wʌn wʌn waɪ/</p><p><a href="https://anarres.family/tags/a11y" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>a11y</span></a> <a href="https://anarres.family/tags/accessibility" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>accessibility</span></a></p>

Jeri Dansky<p>Folks using screen readers: How annoying is it to come across posts with a lot of emojis?
