The overlay shill is not just a shill, but an overlay vendor itself.

It may have failed to disclose that when asking for, and engaging in, a “balanced” and “open” debate about overlays on LinkedIn.

Overlay vendors continue to be ethically dubious (at best).

Just a friendly reminder that this is one of the main leading accessibility advocates in this space and he is saying this kind of thing. Anybody that criticizes AI on the basis of it’s hype or the accessibility shortcomings is just not getting the big picture, according to him. But also keep in mind, this is the very same individual that said, automation is not the enemy of #Accessibility AI is the future of accessibility - Karl Groves karlgroves.com/ai-is-the-futur #AI #AIHype #A11y

Ça y est, ma PR a été intégrée :
https://github.com/msys2/MINGW-packages/pull/24736

On a related note, public service announcement:

Since covid, my body will randomly break into a sweat... unless it's actually hot apparently. 🙄 So I have to be really mindful to avoid heat exhaustion.

👉 A covid infection from 18mos ago has knocked out my nervous system's ability to regulate temperature.

So like, #yallMasking ?
And if yer not, please be supportive and understanding of anybody who still is.
This shit's no joke, yo.

Nesting focusable elements is problematic. Have you seen any good blogposts, docs, or other #accessibility resources that go into *why* nesting is problematic?

I’m looking for something I could link to in a blogpost of my own, on a somewhat different topic. Preference is for something in-depth, and not marketing slop for a company (especially not for anyone affiliated with an overlay vendor).

We are excited to be a part of #NFB25 next week and to announce our new partnership with @nationsblind!

I love this so much. It's pretty much a GUI for #tampermonkey, offering an easier way for #blind folks to find elements on a webpage and do things to them. Yes, you could do the same things directly by just writing JavaScript yourself. But this is much, much faster, and requires a bit less knowledge. It took me less than 30 seconds to turn all the story titles on fanfiction.net into headings. Labeling a button, or making other small changes would be just as fast. The typos and slightly incorrect English put me off at first; especially the word "blinds" for blind people felt weird and derogatory. apparently the author is from #Cameroon, though, so maybe that's standard there. stsolution2.org/WebAccessibilizer/ #a11y #accessibility #screenreader
stsolution2.orgWebAccessibilizer- A web javascript to help blind to make html web pages more accessible

Has anyone logged this issue in Mastodon yet? Using the main website, in Firefox at least, I can't add alt text to an image with a screen reader.

On the main website, the alt area is actually a giant, accessible, drag and drop element that I can't remember right now, but a mouse user can just click the button, but since I am a keyboard user, it keeps wanting to lift, drag, and drop, when I hit the space bar or the enter key to activate the alt text button instead of actually pressing the alt text button.

If I wanna add alt text to an image, I need to use a third party client. This isn't accessible.

Has anyone filed this on Github? I'd rather comment on someone else's ticket than make one tonight for this issue.
