Rat Can't Read (she/her)<p>Of course, the collapse of the current system opens up possibilities for something new and better! But we have to start envisioning and building that future now! I see a lot of people online promoting <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/Accelerationism" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Accelerationism</span></a> in the assumption that as things get worse, people will just somehow figure it out and it'll be better. I think they don't realize that a lot of <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/accelerationists" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>accelerationists</span></a> became <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/fascists" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>fascists</span></a>. It's an inherently <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/fascist" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>fascist</span></a> position that is fine sacrificing <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/PeopleWithDisabilities" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PeopleWithDisabilities</span></a> and <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/PeopleOfColor" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PeopleOfColor</span></a>, the elderly, and other vulnerable folks, who are most at risk if the current system collapses. Yes, <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/neoliberalism" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>neoliberalism</span></a> and <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/LateStageCapitalism" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LateStageCapitalism</span></a> are bad, but in their wake, things can get worse. They won't inherently get better unless we set out to create a better world.</p><p><a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/AnotherWorldIsPossible" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AnotherWorldIsPossible</span></a>, but we have to start building those alternatives. I don't have an easy answer for how to do that, unfortunately, but I think it can be done</p>

I'm pretty sure global population will be up to several billion smaller in fifty years. But I think doing what we can to ameliorate that would be a GOOD thing.</p>
