The power of ADSB tracking having very real impact on politics.

Flight #UAL35 (#BOEING 777-200) is squawking unlawful interference (7500)!

Wondering if that helicopter hovering over the neighborhood is the news or law enforcement? Go to https://globe.adsbexchange.com/ . Zoom in on your location and find the track of the helicopter. Click the helicopter icon. That will give you the registration number and possibly the owner. In the US the registration will most likely start with an "N". You can search on that for even more info.

@ai6yr Huh, I've been running an #ADSB stack (dump1090-fa, piaware, feeder to adsbfi) for just over two years now, pretty much non-stop and my SD card is still doing fine without any special tricks to minimize writes.
I'm just using a SanDisk ultra 16GB which is ~30% full.
I had a cheap Staples brand card give up on me after just a few months when I ran a Zabbix monitoring server on it, but I think besides the bottom-of-the-barrel NAND-flash it was the round-robin files that killed it.
NB: I am not sharing anything secret here. You can be certain that
1. Any #military flight with #ADSB enabled wants to be seen
2. No flight zones are closely monitored by state actors
3. Given that there's several military bases, EU space research, and one of the main locations for the military arm of #Airbus and their helicopter R&D in this area, state actors will have their eyes and ears open anyway
It's Very Normal(TM) how the German #military #airforce is doing low-altitude training flights with the #Airbus #A400M #Atlas -- with #ADSB enabled -- in the South of #Munich all of a sudden and for two days in a row now.
This general area is used for test and training flights somewhat regularly, but then they declare a temporary no-flight zone.
I'm certain there's no messaging involved in leaving ADS-B on. None at all.
Tim Cook is in Camarillo (well, his plane). Visiting Jeff Bezos in Ojai, or had a craving for dinner at The Waypoint Cafe? #adsb
Refueling tanker training party appears to be happening today off the coast of Baja California #adsb
The DC midair collision was captured on camera by several witnesses.
Footage shows the American Airlines flight apparently on final approach being struck by the BlackHawk helicopter.
The Blackhawk was not broadcasting an ADS-B position.
Following this RyanAIR flight that looks like something's gone wrong. It's flying about over Benbecula just now
Flight #N6301P (#PIPER PA-24 Comanche) is squawking radio failure (7600)!

What the heck is this RCMP plane doing??
If it's the weekend, let's code a bit and write a lot about the little coding that was done...

Built a real-time aircraft display layer into some software not designed for real time through a side door for work, LOL.
(stuff I learned all about for fun as a ham radio operator, actually, ha ha ha)
