I'm giving Ghostty another shot and was able to get font settings so that text rendering looks as good as Alacritty (at least on my Framework and using Berkeley Mono).

Also, on Fedora Workstation 42 with GNOME, Alacritty doesn't respond to Surface Pen inputs or clicks on my Surface Pro 3. Both the default GNOME Terminal and Ghostty work fine with the Surface Pen, though. Not sure what's going on with Alacritty there. 🤷🏼

Well, it turns out that on my desktop machine with an Nvidia GPU, the only #terminal that doesn't cause a (very annoying) freeze of the whole system when waking up from suspend is #alacritty for some reason.

And so I'm back to the roots, and trying out #zellij on top of Alacritty for multiplexing capabilities.

So far so good.

I’ve been on Fedi for a year now and have fallen in love with the platform, so here’s my introduction! I studied computer science with a focus on RTOS and FP/PL, but I’m about to start my final semester of law school. I’ll be practicing at a boutique firm that primarily handles IP cases once I’m barred. I foilboard and I play way too many rhythm games in and out of the arcade.

I contribute to open source projects where I can, and I write up my experience in my digital garden which I’ve been maintaining for over a year now. It’s also a good place to find usage tips for projects/tools that you might want to use.

My passion for tech also includes privacy, and I’m an advocate for minimizing your digital footprint. GenAI is a scam and its purveyors are causing real harm while they sell it as hard as they can.

I'd like to, yeah. I just kinda forgot the beauty of having a machine set up for focus, and not dithering.

I'll have to uninstall toot from it, and I might temporarily remove my authorized_keys entry from my rPi machine so I don't hop over to it to use tut, either.

I've also found that #Alacritty seems to be the perfect terminal for #OpenBSD... nice blend of fairly modern options and decent unicode support. For some reason, unicode just doesn't work right on #lxterminal on that OS.

Just a random screenshot of my current workspace.

I am really enjoying the leftwm window manager. Very simple to set up and very fast and stable. I have been using tiling window managers starting with ion3, Awesome, DWM, and I3. Leftwm removes the need to use a programming language in order to configure it. All I have really needed is a small bashscript in order to start up the programs needed.

Hi all :) I create/update some #slackbuilds for #slackware-current

#HelixEditor
#procs
#alacritty

The repo have the link for the pre-build packages.

Let me know if you find any issue.

PS: I will try to compile some of then in Slackware15 but the main focus is the current/next-version.

It was surprisingly easy!
Most of the desktop tools that I use were included as packages.

I used #i3wm and reused my dotfiles.

My #archlinux dotfiles were almost enough. Weirdly #alacritty didn't like the TOML config file format. Had to use YAML.

Fonts, icons, etc have almost the same names as in Arch. Emoji fonts worked! I honestly didn't expect the emoji fonts working lol

The only thing that I miss is #NetworkManager. What is the #NetBSD alternative for NetworkManager?

I've been trying to use #nvim for my newer #Scala work more than IntelliJ recently.

So far, so good. Had interesting time with getting debugging working but it's actually quite a complete experience, with a lot less memory than IntelliJ uses.

Shame I have a weird occasional graphical glitch with #alacritty that can spoil a good session.

An old friend and colleague materialized today in the Tokyo office, and worked from there.
Speaking German at the office with someone is quite rare.

He came up with a desktop setup quite similar to mine: #sway, #mutt, #firefox for most tasks. We both use #alacritty as terminal, I also fcitx for Kanjiinput, which he does not need.

Status bar in sway almost similar, but using 'waybar' instead of bumblebee-status which I use - seems like waybar can not natively show multiple time zones.
